Bipoalr is as different as the people that have it.We all have are strength and weakness .I know people who are not on know meds. at all and handle their bipolar just fine and others who dont handle it well and should be on meds. But that also works the other way as well I know people on med who are fine and others who are wacked out of their minds .

Meds. wont get rid of your bipolar .They are meant to help you deal with your bipolar so you can help your self get better .But there are alot of people who dont wont to work at getting better or doctors who given up on tring to help them and over medicated them where they become just zombies .

So the choice is up to you . Find a !!!GOOD!!! doctor sit down with him and let him know how you feel and how you best help your self work on your bipolar with & with out meds. and make these choices together.

Good site on levels and types. BPII is usually more "dangerous" than Type I.

Bipolar is a chemical imbalance in the brain and medications help correct that imbalance and thusly control the mood disorder. If you had a heart problem or diabetes and needed to take medication to control it would you question that? This is very similar because it is also very much a physical problem.

I'm bipolar II and I don't know what I would do without medication. I have been depressed for about 85% of the last 15 years and I've only recently found a medication that helps me to really control it. I would never go back to being un-medicated because I now know what it feels like to feel well.
