I was just diagnosed with Bipolar disorder about 2 months ago and i almost feel like a crazy person. I dont know why no one seems to think that i'm still myself even with it. Everyone sterotypes me now and i dont understand. The only outlet i have is a friend i have that he has been bipolar for 10 years. But i still feel like i am in a shell. I didnt know whatwas wrong with me for so long and now that i know i feel better but then again i dont. My mom was always the one that said oh no we've been through this your not bi-polar blah blah. She wouldnt get my my medication or anything else that i needed. I was diagnosed with severe depression and adhd when i was younger but that doesnt make any sense. because if i had depressionn i would be down all the time and not having moments where i am hyper and happy. not even adhd can explain that. I dunno i just feel lind of weird. and i also dont think that someone with adhd hears things or sees things. I've head voices since i was 17 and i'm now 22. I'm so totally confused about this and i have no idea what to do.

Hi Brianna!

A new DX of Biopolar is indeed difficult to accept, understand and learn to live with. I am 52 & was just DX last year, but have had early onset Bipolar since my teens. My history sounds a much like yours. new diagnosed

Sweetie, you CAN live & cope with this disorder: many people do lead productive, meaninful lives. new diagnosed

However, you you most important step is to see a Pyschiatrist on a regular basis for medications & Therapy. There are many meds that may control your mood swings...lessen anxiety & depression.
You did not mention if you were on..or have been on any medications...

If you Mom won't help you with the meds or discounts your condition, speak to your Doctor about this. Perhaps a meeting with your Mom may help ALL parties understand what you are going through.

Feeling weird is not uncommon...I am sure every Biopolar person on this site has felt that way at one time.

It's important that you know YOU ARE NOT ALONE with this. We are here to listen & support you as best we can...

Take care & keep in touch new diagnosed

But he said if i am not doing better he is going to put me on depakote.

I know you dont feel lucky now but you are .Many people with bipolar never get help and alot of them end up homeless and become lost souls and know one cares .My bipolar is just is just like yours and yes hearing and seeing things as well .I was even removed form my own house which I worked my *** to buy by CYS (Children and youth) told me that being bipolar was unsafe for my kids to be around me .Which is ******** but I found out later that this happens alot to people with bipolar its just one of many way they streotype us.

All i can tell you is that now that you know you can work on controlling it . Its up to you .Sometimes it great to be manic to be happy for know reason at all i love it..So here a trick I take mostly meds for my Dep. I take no mood stabilizer and the meds. I take meds. as needed for my manic . Doctor ok this

The only people who can understand you are other people with bipolar so its good you got a friend .
