Feel free to join me, tell us where it hurts! Ouch thread

I have the all over fibromyalgia ache going on plus extra bonus jaw pain and tight shoulders.

Distraction is working pretty well for me today: playing with cats, listening to birds singing outside, keeping a woodstove fire going, playing around online, reading, eating well, and plain ol' relaxing.

Anything working for you?

Fracture site T4T5 really bad again after a tolerable few days. Knees are protesting. That was supposed to be from the Lyme but I quit the antibiotic for that. Was on it for 6 months. Quivering tummy like fluish. Hubby has been feeling that too so maybe viral. tummy says ouch, carrot juice is not what it wanted.

I'm getting over a migraine though it doesn't seem to have fully let go of me yet.

Usual flu-ish feeling fibromyalgia stuff. Plus this cold weather isn't helping much.

I'm pulling through a long bout with migraines plus the usual fibromyalgia stuff. To sorta reorient myself I want to write up some of the things that are helpful.

I love public libraries. As a disabled person I'm able to have books mailed out to me, so I use the online catalog, place holds on things, then they are mailed out when ready. I could then mail them back but that would cost postage and it is usually possible for I or a friend to return them for me. I'm often able to borrow new books this way and it is like Christmas every time I get something in the mail! Ouch thread I can usually (but not always) read when going through extra symptoms and I love reading.

Warm baths and showers. Ahhhhhh....what would I do without access to hot water?

Paying attention to what stresses me and if I can stop doing it, stop doing it. Online communication sometimes stresses me out, usually it is best for me then to just turn off the computer. And physically sometimes I can't deal with looking at a monitor, makes headaches worse.

Remembering the basics: water, food, sleep.

Paying close attention to how I talk to myself. Important to not make mountains out of molehills and also to practice self soothing skills. Yeah it is not fair that I'm sick etc etc but so it goes. This too will pass or at least get different.

Hang out with cats, a friend has 4 wonderful cats that are such a treat to be with. Unfortunately I do have allergies but can usually spend some time with them before I get too stuffed up. The cats are warm, purring, attentive, and they want to me stay seated!

Exercise when I can.

Let things be simple and choose relaxing distractions.

What is working for you?

Things that make me feel better...hmmmmm...well I am in limbo I think...and I tend to overthink things...I try to spend time with my plants, bonsai and succulents, seeing as how I not really have a green thumb and they are hardy plants!! I have my two cats and now that we have fish I can sit n watch them for hours...I like movies and crime channels...when I was a bit less in pain, walking the dog with moggles is nice...i really dun read too much anymore, though I used to be an avid reader...and pc, i love coming here sometimes just posting and responding and reaching out and feeling connected to people...but soemtimes when a headache is on and I can't focus on screen...oh well I feel as if i am going on and on...Ouch thread melanie

Great list!

I'm not good with indoor plants either, don't have any anymore, bonsai and succulents is a great idea.

I have fibromyalgia, migraines and lupus- I cant wait for warmer weather also...
Walking does tend to help- when u can force urself to do it...my dog helps
I turn to my pets and the hot water is allways the best!!!!!
I use those homepathic heating pads - u heat them up in the micro and they are filled with herbs like lavender to help calm- I love them...Just remember too much sleep can have an opposite effect..feels good at the time but can lead to depression and a bad spiral downwards(i know from personal experience)

Hope your headache passed, keep us updated, did you check in with doc yet? Probably good to get it checked since it sounds different than what you usually experience.

Hey, I think whatever time you put in at the gym is a success! Ouch thread

Sleep helps me too, I've noticed that for me sleep might not ever erase the physical pain and fatigue, but I'm more likely to be able to think semi-clearly. Usually improves my mood too.
