Twilightsky, I have reflux and IBS to go along with my fibro. I go through periods when I can't keep food in me. It leaves in a hurry one way or the other if you get what I mean. Have you tried sipping ginger ale? It's an old home remedy for nausea. A question - did the nausea start around the time you started taking Lyrica? Could the two be related? |

No Mija. The nausea just started about three months ago but the vomiting is new. I have been on Lyrica for two years. I was on Neurontin and it didn't like me...lol. Thanks for your post it means alot to me. Hope you are feeling better. (((hugs)))

I've been on Tramadol for years now and wanted to give out a warning. My doctor and myself had this discussion early on from me taking the meds and I am highly addicted to it. I take the top amount for a few years now and the withdrawal symptoms are just awful. So bad, that the decision to change medication is not really an option at the moment. Having worked in medics before I know everyone reacts different and for some of you coming off tramadol might be a breeze. But for myself, if I run out I get very different pain as from my fibro... And to say its not nice would be the understatement of the year. Tramadol is a brilliant painkiller for me and my fibromyalgia. If you are depressed however you will have a problem finding anti depressants as tramadol has a huge effect on your serotonin levels in your brain and serotonin shock syndrome can accrue and kill.
So, if any of you has any ideas how to come off that stuff let me know, if you are considdering going on it.... Read up first and take regular breaks from it... ![]() ![]()

I'm glad you are seeing your doctor next week. I have been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia years ago and remember I had one particular bad patch where vomiting was part of the deal. Basically I had about 1year where my pain was unbearable and getting from one room to another was nearly impossible. I'm a great believer in all round approaches, and basically think your emotional state is very much connected to your physicle state. The best advise anyone gave me was pacing myself and stop fighting the pain. It doesn't mean ignore the pain but in a way accept it as a part of you and work with it. Water is important for life... Maybe if you could start drinking a small glass of water before anything crossing your lips? (meaning before you eat your breakfast have a glass, before you have tea or coffe have another glass etc). As you are feeling sick, try to stick to good food. It can be expensive but again fits in with the whole picture. I usually try to stick to the rule 'what the earth provides' ... Fresh things, natural things, you get the pic lol. And if you can, make use of any support being offered. ![]() Keep us updated to what the doc says... Ops, just had another thought as well, sorry. My son had problems with his stomach for a long time and it turned out to be bacteria which we all have but it usually lies dormant. Just make sure the doc is taking you serious ![]()

my shoulders feel like they are seperated from my body and the pain in the arms makes me take a deep breath. then my fingers get numb. I wish I could just take my arms off when they are feeling this way and hang them up for a while to heal. but then I'd need somebody to put them back on.....bad humor I know, but I'm desperate to find a smile this morning.

It must be going around....I've had a major flare with my shoulders/arms/hands/thighs/knees this week. The pain is rotten and I feel like my arms and shoulders are on fire with this burning sensation. Yet to touch my skin, it's cool and fine. Also burning in my thighs and knees as well at times.
I so understand wanting to take those arms off porcupine!! I would like to do the same thing. LOL I just visualized that and it looks quite funny to me! ![]() |

I had the weirdest thing happen yesterday. I went out to check the mail and did not bring my cane - it' about 50 ft to my mailbox and the ground is basically sand and stones. All of a sudden I could only walk in a wide circle - it's like I had no control. I was finally able to hold on to something to get my bearings. Has anything like this ever happened to anybody?
I've had vertigo, and still do get dizzy when I lay down, make a fast turn of the head or get up too fast, this was like a 15 ft wide circle! Weird and scary!

Oh wow, that must have been a bit scary and unnerving. I've never experienced anything like that before. I do however have issues with standing still and not leaning or listing to one side at times. Some days are better than others.
Are you going to speak to your dr about that? |

Whew! Turns out to be a double ear infection throwing me off balance. He thinks that the temporary circle walking was an isolated incident and now I'm on antibiotics. Makes sense to me - I also asked for antivert to have on hand as I have vertigo quite often. Thanks for caring!

Wow, a double ear infection....yep, that would do it! Are you not having any ear pain from the infection? My kids used to get ear infections and I never knew they had them until they were very bad or something else came from it like strep throat or sinus infection. They just never had a lot of ear pain. Me? When I get them I have plenty of ear pain....go figure...LOL.
I hope the infection clears up quickly and you stop walking in circles. ![]() ![]() Be well! |

Reading this thread is interesting. I was diagnosed with fibro this past summer. Prior to that I have been in treatment for some pretty serious depression (bipolar type 2?) and finally got stable on a med cocktail. Anyway, I now take a lot of things in combination that you all have been told are not okay. I've been told there's a risk, but what I'm taking is okay together.
I take: Zoloft, Buspar, Lamictal, Wellbutrin (just started this week for bad SAD) Lyrica, Tramadol, Ativan, Ambien and a few others that aren't depression or fibro related. I've been on a psych med combo in different forms for about 3 years now, and no serotonin syndrome problems. I really want to simplify my meds, but for now, feeling good is more important. |

So sorry to hear how much pain you are in Twilight. It seems when it rains it pours - I've never heard of the drug you are now on. I'm so leery about taking anything because of the other meds I'm on for Bipolar, etc. Keep us posted on how you are doing.

Porcpine, here is a link to the NIH comments about Twilight's new med. Seems it's an anticonvolcent also used for pain relief.
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmedhealth/PMH0000940/ Oh amn Twilight, when it rains it pours! I'm sorry you are in so much pain right now. Broken ribs hurt like a son of a gun and there's not much you can do except wait for them to heal. Sending you gentle hugs so as not to sqaush your ribs. ![]() |

Hi, I'm new here. I've been reading through the thread backwards and wanted to briefly introduce myself. I have fibromyalgia and BPII plus some back issues, and other issues. Right now I am trying to get some decent medical care. There is a major schism between my psych care and my med care. And no one is addressing the fibromyalgia right now! Sigh. Well, nice to meet you all. I'm learning by reading this thread. So thanks for putting it out there.

It's so frustrating when medical folks and psych folks can't communicate and work together. Those of us with fibro need to be proactive about advocating for ourselves with the docs. |

I agree with lizardlady....if we don't speak up for ourselves, nothing gets done. I'm sorry you are kind of hanging in limbo sparklehorse. I do hope you are able to get some help for the fibro real soon!

Yesterday I could barely walk thru a store my knees hurt so bad. I would have made a great extra in a zombie film.

A little humor goes a long way. Sometimes I find it difficult to muster on my own. Thanks for the smile, then the chuckle when I read your signature.
