I didn't know where to ask this. If it needs to be somewhere else please move it there.

What does it feel like to you to physically feel anger?

It was never acceptable for me to be angry without it costing me punishment.

I've been angry in session a few (3) times with my counselor and there have been certain physical things that have happened.

- A vibration, like a small current of electricity, starts somewhere in my body.

- It intensifies and moves to my sternum and I feel really afraid.

- My hands turn ice cold and I shake like I'm freezing.

I experienced an altercation with my mom over the phone a couple of hours ago and I have noticed the vibration in my lower core.

I don't know what to do with this.

In session, it progresses on it's own, but I can't remember what I did for that to happen. My t is talking me through it and I can't remember what he has said.

I was just wondering if anyone else experiences anger like this.

What do you do to release it?

Clenched teeth. Definitely a certain shakiness or vibration type of of feeling. Breathing speeds up. Tightening of my neck and shoulder muscles. Sometimes a fidgetty tapping, rapping of fingers. Depends.

I can either type it out, voice my thoughts to someone. I know how to bring that elevated anger off. Much like grounding of an anxiety attack bring myself to take deep breathes, close my eyes a quick meditative technique or two. Count to ten or higher.

Or if necessary, keep myself still/calm look straight ahead focus on my facial expressions to hide it.

Thank you!

I can relate to what you have said and felt. It means much that you share that.

I have done a great job at hiding it for a long time. I’ve had no freedom or safety to express it.

I want to learn how to feel it and use it productively. I just don’t know how to do it!

I need help!!

Sounds like you have a case of moodiness and it is great that you can talk about it. Anger, love, fear, happiness, sadness are all natural emotions. How your reactions release into healthy patterns will help determine if those emotions will continue or pass. Think about what makes your emotions heighten and when you feel them most (late hours of the night, after a long day or whenever your thoughts are lost in particular place or action) find a problem and talk to someone. good luck

Wish I could edit this.

Is it ok if I ask for the moderators to take this away?

I find that the energy from anger is a better productive fit with some type of busywork. Do you have any creative outlets? Do you have any physical activities that you enjoy?

Thank you again!

Geez!! That was a bad place to be in!

I do like to run but sometimes that’s not possible in the moment.

I picked up a pen and “let it go” and here it is.

Physically Feeling Anger

I can say that it actually calmed it down a bit.

Maybe some form of aggressive art? Physically Feeling Anger*Physically Feeling Anger

I just found this and I wanted to put it here.

I’m going to give it a try and wanted to share it.

For some reason it feels connected to me going crazy with the pen.
