I don't know why I feel this, but it has been a dominant feeling these past days or maybe weeks. It's just been days since I identified it. How do I figure out why I am frightened?

I suggest meditation. Clear your mind answers appear that way.

I dont know if it was the same for me
I had fear/fears years ago but wouldn't dig cause the idea of looking at grief/loss/apathy seemed too exhausting So, it depends from your situation If you can manage to look at it, understand if there is any practical issue that you can work on... great ![]() |

I think I want to look at it. It may take me some time though. Aviza mentioned meditation. I do meditate on a regular basis, but I've been restless and unfocussed while meditating for some time now. I'll just keep at it, I guess. And maybe I need to set apart a day to focus on this specifically, and not allow any distractions or something. Is that a good thought? Or am I just setting myself up to get totally overwhelmed if I do that?

I think, in the end, that things about life are actually scary giving feelings of insecurity within yourself . It might not have been so apparent earlier on in the younger years of life, but now as you grow and accumulate more experience then it comes into your awareness more.

Well, yes. That, and I am actively trying to listen, to feel what lies beneath the anger. It's a wierd process, doesn't feel good, but is good. Strange.

What lies beneath it could lead you on a wild goose chase. I reckon it's best to just look into ways to reduce or stop being afraid in the moment,in the here and now. Spiritual matters.

All of life is a wild goose chase. I'll go where it takes me. That may be spiritual, present, past, certainly future (no escaping that). I'm not excluding much.

Oh okay I understand. Well they'll probably most likely likely tell you that the fear you're feeling now is because of stuff that happened to you as a a child and as you were growing up. It's etched into your brain etc. It's a tough path because I firmly believe that blaming will only hurt yourself. I'm not a great fan of that approach anymore AliceKate.

Yes, and for the short while we worked with my inner child, I kept telling T that I felt aweful, because I didn't want to blame my father. He wasn't the best Dad, but he was the reason I didn't end up in the gutter or jail or something. And we have a good relationship now. Etc. T assured me it wasn't about blame, but I'm not really sure I can appreciate the nuance. So yeah, I'm not big on placing blame over spilt milk. Noone can change the past. We've all made mistakes.

Fear or fear that is the result of generalized anxiety? Sometimes severe anxiety can feel like relentless fear and can be ameliorated by certain medications. When the meds help using tools such as meditation are much more effective.

I'm taking lexapro, 10mg every day. It's helping, I think. I also meditate and do sport.
