Lately, I realized that my intense academic stress is due to depression due to unknown factors.
Is cognitive behavior treatment really effective? Are medications really necessary?

hi again, piggysmile. i hope you are well.
those are answers really a dr/t can answer for you. it depends on the depression/anxiety to know whether med, therapy or both would be best for you. i'd start with therapy, because that's the one question i CAN answer...congnitive behavior therapy really worked, and is working, with me. gl! keep us informed!

Cognitive-bahevior therapy is really effective for depression...loads of research to back that up. The meds probably aren't necessary so if you'd rather do without them, go see a therapist and get started. (If it doesn't seem to be working after awhile, you can always go see a doc later for the meds.)
