I'm in a terrible position this year. I have to borrow money from everyone this month just to pay my rent and bills. This is a really bad thing. I have to tell my dad not to get me anything and just give me the money so I can pay my rent and bills. I thought I'd never make rent but found a way I could. I have to borrow $30 off my dad for my gas bill. It's just my half of the bill, but it's gonna be one hell of a tough month.

I don't know how i'm gonna make it. Thank goodness my boyfriend gives me $50 a week for groceries, though...we'll have to use that for bills though. The problem we're gonna have this month is gonna be food. I only get $79 in food stamps...I'm gonna have to go to welfare or something for help with that.

I know I am just boo-hooing about stuff people have problems with but this is really important to me. I have to tell my dad to take back everything he got me just so I can have some money to pay some bills this month! How stupid is that!?

No Xmas this year

Lexicon, I'm sorry.

The best gifts are expressions of your feelings. A handmade card is just as good as a store-bought present, IMO. Better, actually.

Also, not sure where in PA you live, but you can see what's in the Free section on Craigslist

I agree with LMo. Celebrate holiday with family, not with gifts, assuming you are up to it. Do what you have to do, as much or as little, to take care of yourself. I hope your family will understand... we sure do and we are here to support you through the holidays.

Im in the same boat as you for food. Right now I got $60.00 a month for foodstamps. What helps is there are agencies nationwide like st vicent du paul, salvation army, and churches that have food pantries. you take you medical card or foodstamp card in with you and proof of id. They put you on the list and then you can go there once a week and pick up a huge box of food. I alsways get about $80-$100 dollars worth of food in it depending on availability. and they also have seaseonal gift food baskets like the thanksgiving one I just got had a 10 pound turkey, a box of stove top stuffing, a 5 pound bag of yams, 5 pound bag of potatoe, 6 cans of green beans, 2 cans of peas, 2 cans of fruit cocktail, a bunch of bannans, apples and oranges, cool whip and a pumpkin pie, rolls, and sweet buns. The christmas basket is much the same and they are nationwide and accepting people as I post in your state. Oregon's sign up for christmas starts next week.

I'm sorry things are rough for you. Food is important, gifts are not. Family and friends are important too. Local churches and missions? Just because you might not believe the way they do, doesn't mean they won't help you... tc and ask for help as you need to!

Well, I think that's terrible. It shouldn't be just another day! It should be special...at least that's what it used to be for me...

No Xmas this year(((((((((Lexicon)))))))))))) No Xmas this year

There is nothing stupid in what you have said. I'm sure your Dad will understand. Rent and food is important.
He would rather help you this way, I think, then seeing you on the street starving.

I am also going to have a rough month but we will make it.

I know how that is. I have done the same thing.

Stay away from consumer cr@p. Make a nice fruit cake, or other home made goodie - a card, food, or anything.

"Chrismas" has become totally corrupted by the corporate consumer frenzy. They, the MAN, loves you for joining the insanity, but you don't have to do it.

A gift of love and companionship is better than any merchandise.

don't you guys watch Charlie Brown? Christmas is an attitude of the heart, not the pocketbook No Xmas this year It's RECEIVING THE GIFT, not giving what we cannot afford... give love, give smiles, do your best.

I thought it was "More blessed to give than to receive," albeit not "things" but love and caring. No Xmas this year
