well im here again and yet im still not doing to well, i'll start off why first its suicide prevention week at my school, so i thought yay finally people who i can talk to WRONG the people who came to my school were jokes you could tell, i've had more cuts in one day then they have had their hole lives so talking was out of the question. next was when the teachers read on how to spot someone with depression.. it started out "think of your friends do any of them seem sad?" well i was out in the clear because i have NO FRIENDS. the after the paper i heard kids saying "oh this is a waste of time", " no one here is going to kill them selves" as i was cutting my self under my sweater like usual. i thought it was funny so i smiled and almost laughed at how close they were to me and how depressed i am, suicidal most of the time. then i went back to being sad again. but is this really a joke to other people? is it nothing that people kill themselves because of it? or is it just me?

It's sad, ironically, that they don't understand. However, giving some of them the benefit of the doubt, maybe some of them do--but are trying to cover it up by joking.
I hope things will get better soon for you. We certainly understand here! |

People can't fathom what they don't understand, nor have ever been through. Suicide is never a joke, nor is the education associated with it. It's so important to be able to recognise the signs in people who are potentially suicidal.
Whoever is teasing you is cruel, but they don't understand - it's not a free pass to do what they're doing, because it's still wrong, but one can only hope they will learn how important it is to be aware of mental illness and everything that comes with it. All my best to you.

I can trace this road, which took me through places so hot the very air burned the lungs. I did not turn back. I pressed on, and eventually passed over the border, beyond which lies a place that is wordless and cold, so cold that it, like mercury, burns a freezing blue flame.” ― Marya Hornbacher, Wasted: A Memoir of Anorexia and Bulimia |

I too feel this way. What can we do to get people to understand depression? Does anyone have a clue? I think that I will start a post with this question see what ideas we can come up with.
Groups - It took me a day to really understand what a group is all about. You feel 2 differant ways. You feel that you are with people you can speak to and not get any flack. You also feel sorry for the others in the room because of there illnesses. If possible you might try and find a group for depression. |

It's very easy for people with a cushiony life or perfect chemical balance to look down on those who don't. But in our minds, we know we're the better people because we've known deeper emotions and more complex experiences. Let them immerse in their perceived superiority. Because they don't deserve the truth, do they?
![]() As for you, sir, there are plenty of people here who want to listen to your problems. ![]() ![]()

I, personally, don't think it is a joke. I have gone down that road waaaay too many times. attempts. minor success in attempts. I suppose it is a good thing so many people know C.P.R. I still feel greatly depressed.. but i think i will find a way out of it... but the scars.... i will always have.

Suicide is never the answer and its not a joke. But there may have been more students feeling that way but were afraid to show it. There are people who care .

Suicide is a leading cause of death among teens. No, it's not a joke. I've reconnected with five people I went to school with in my early teens, all women, and after a couple years of visiting we've gotten down to some serious stuff, e.g., all of us attempted, or were stopped in an attempt, to kill ourselves.
Each of us had thought for sure we were the only ones in our class. It would be great if every school had a Depression Forum of some sort, a self-support or guided support group. But of course even kids who ached to go would probably make fun of the ones who did.
