I don't think I have a valid reason to be/feel depressed and this sad all the time. I cry for no reason, flitter from good to bad multiple times in a day, feel like my head, body all my organs are tied up in one big knot and I have no idea what I can do to solve the queasy feeling in my stomach. I am afraid of a doctor being dismissive, shooing me away and my Mum saying "what do you have to be sad about?" I feel like everybody has a valid reason to feel this way except for me and I mope around feeling sorry for myself instead.
It's currently quite bad, my boyfriend left for university and he felt like the only stability I had in my life for a long time.
What do I do? Is there even anything wrong?

I think that you should talk to someone. if you are experiencing depressing feelings then there is NOTHING for anyone to dismiss. but if you are worried about a medical doctor visit, then try and get an appointment with a therapist/psychologist/psychiatrist. they will be able to help you.

Hang in there. You deserve help and it's perfectly fine to need it.

hope this helps

I would speak to your doctor and tell him you may be feeling depressed. I reached out to family members and they told me to get over it. It was probable the worst advice I ever received. It made me ignore these feelings and built up so bad I hurt myself. Talk to someone sooner rather than later. Doctors have experience in what you are going through and can help you, especially those in the mental health area.

Depression doesn't need a reason to make you miserable. There are even celebrities with all their money, fame and friends who suffer from it. There is help out there and ways to cope with all these feelings.

I agree with adam. Depression doesn't require a reason, but it does require attention. Talk to your doctor. Find a therapist. Dismiss the opinions of those who dismiss your feelings. And keep coming here. We understand what you're going through better than anybody else.

I know exactly how you feel. It is difficult to stay focused when you never know what emotion you are going to be feeling, and when you are constantly sick to your stomach. It is also difficult when you do not have a shoulder to cry on, and when you feel like nobody understands you. I also know how difficult it is to be away from your boyfriend, and it is going to always be hard to be away from him. I can tell that you are going through a lot right now, and although I may not be able to give very good advice, you can always message me to talk about the way you feel. You and I have a lot in common, and I think that just talking back and forth may help. I am here for you.

Depression is only sometimes about things in our lives. Then it's called "reactive" depression. As often as not it's about scrambled brain chemistry and there's no visible reason for it to happen. That's one of the really frustrating things about depression, the people around us wanting to "cheer us up." ARGH. It doesn't work that way!

Depression is an illness. It needs to be treated, just like bronchitis or diabetes. The right treatment can work wonders. Just two months ago I was suicidal. I got my meds adjusted and I'm like a different person--and I've had this exact same experience a bunch of times in my life. The proper medication regimen makes me functional. When the meds quit working I turn into a different person.
