Last night I told my husband he is the only thing keeping me going. We want to keep me out of the hospital so I do not tell my doctor just how bad I feel. Just hope they come up with a combo of meds that helps have been depressed too long

I understand, Shery53.
There are some bipolar folks who cycle at the spring season and in winter. Don't know if you're in the United States, but if you are, that could be part of the reason you're having a difficult time. Maybe your psychiatrist could tweak your meds during this time, and when summer gets here you'll be much stronger. Circadium rhythms enter into the bipolar scenario more than we sometimes are aware of. Also read today that bipolar patients frequently have a very strong sensitivity to light. Hope you're wearing sun glasses outside at this time of the year. And be careful about watching too much tv (unless you put on some glasses that block the glare). A stable rest schedule is so important; I hope you're getting a full night's restful sleep. A lot of sunlight during the late afternoon can slow down the production of melatonin which begins to activate around sunset. That might affect your sleeping. Be sure to tell your psychiatrist what's going on so he'll know just how to medicate you for the season. I hope you're going to avoid the hospital, too. It sounds from your message as if you might not have to be hospitalized having as much control as you do over your feeling tone. If you're agitated, try to calm that by squeezing 2 lemons into 8oz. of water and drink it; if you aren't calm within 4 hours, repeat the process; that should do it for you. Some of us do that on occasion to get relief, and it works to lower acid levels of tissues and fluids. Hopefully, you'll get better and better as Spring rolls on. Take care and please continue to post as you wish. Others will be along soon probably. |

Hey Shery,
it may be a good idea to tell your doc a little of how you are feeling, as genetic says, s/he may be able to help medicate you better. Try and do all the things that you know might make you feel a little 'better', such as bathing, and self-care techniques that you have learnt, getting out into the fresh air for a walk no matter how you detest the idea. Sending you strength.

Hey Shery,
thanks for posting, it's good to hear how your feeling. I'm so glad you have support from your husband, really wonderful. It's hard to make it thru, I can relate totally, I think I can't everyday. I haven't really had energy for replying to posts or being online the past couple days. I don't have any special suggestions on what could work for you right now, but I care about how you're doing, will you please keep us updated? Did you call your doctor yet? Do you think you can not worry about the hospital bit and just ask him what he thinks, can he adjust your meds? Personally I don't love being told eat, rest, exercise, because none of those things help me feel better. But I know if I didn't do them I'd feel worse, because I've tested that plenty. Big hugs Shery. Post an update later on, ok? Grace |

OK, so that makes getting to your prescribing doctor all the more urgent.
Have anti-anxiety meds ever been a part of your mix?

I don't have much to add but I hope u are feeling a little bit better. It's good to know u have your husband to support you. Would the hospital be so bad if it were the one thing that could help you? I wonder if u might be able to turn it into a good thing? I'm sorry I can't be more helpful. Hang in there hun.
And I love the profile pic- puppies are my fav and your photo made me smile |

A psychiatrist is not qualified to prescribe medication these days. You cannot trust your doctor. What I'm saying is the quack has the power to prescribe drugs, but due to the complexity he has no idea what he is doing. I suggest you take no drug from you doctor.
