I personally, have to depend on medications are I get suicidal. In fact, right now, due to a medical condition had a conflict in medication and had to be taken off all my psych meds. I manage by staying in bed as much as possible and avoiding people. Not a good place to be. Being on PsychCentral has helped. I'm now back on a mood stablizer but it is not doing much. Will be another month at least before I'm off the blood thinners and can go back on my psych meds. I would suggest professional help. Therapy helps as well as meds for some people. Good luck and keep posting.

When things are bad, I take it a day at a time...I'll just get thru today...these are the things I HAVE to do today...I'll be kind to myself and not try to do anything more...that kind of thing. I take my meds--my priority in life--and that keeps me pretty stable. Therapy helped a lot, but I'm pretty much through with that now...didn't seek another when therapist moved.
I have bipolar sister and nieces. Everyone else is depressed. These things run in families. |

It's just one of those things that you realize you were more or less born with. Like anyone, we all have quirks and differences about us, and in one way or another we all draw the short end of the stick in regards to something.
For the case of clinical depression it's an unfortunate case of just that, but it is definitely neither crippling for someone's life nor is it a death sentence for someone's happiness. All of us affected have had to learn to deal with this issue, so do know you're not at all alone. If you force yourself to focus on positive, relaxing, or positively stimulating activities, your therapy and medication will fill the gaps. You will be fine, just do your best. |
