I've been through

Paxil
Welbutrin
prozac
Geodon
Seroquel
Zyprexa
Lamtical

and nothing. I get some good days rarely.

I haven't gotten the diagnosis but I feel like it's what I am.

Have you been on only one drug at a time or a combination? Many people find that a combination works pretty well for them. It does take time to find that combination, though... Perhaps you have an underlying physical condition that hasn't been diagnosed yet and that's what is causing the depression.

Have you tried multiple psychiatrists? Therapists? Combinations of drugs? Does your state have Medical Marijuana? Anything could be that perfect thing that helps you out.

I hate to say this, one therapist was pushing ECT (electroshock) on me. I'm glad I got a different T. They say it helps some people. They say a lot of things.

I do! I do! They also push ECT on me, but I really don't want to have to do that. Meds I've tried:

Wellbutrin
Zoloft
Prozac
Lamotrigine
Latuda
Olanzepine
Deplin
Probably more that I'm forgetting

With no effect. Got a new therapist and she says I should just get off meds completely. Was going to try Ketamine but it is waaaaay too expensive for me.

I've tried waaaaay more meds than what is mentioned in here. I've been on almost all of those mentioned and more. I think it is a bit early to throw in the towel. It took 8 years to get the right combination for me but once I did life became easier.

Meds help in conjunction with Therapy. It is so important to learn coping skills in therapy or you will just stay in a depressive cycle of going from one med to the next.

I've tried LOADS of meds for depression during the last 6 years and have yet to find one or a combination that has helped at all. Now my pdoc refuses to treat the depression with drugs as they don't work for me. Yet he has no other ideas up his sleeve instead. I can't get therapy on the NHS in my area and I can't afford private. So what else is there to do?? Diet, exercise etc hasn't helped either.

Treatment resistant depression SUCKS!!!

I am sorry . I feel your pain.

Besides the medications, there is TMS and ECT your doctors might suggest..

I am in the same place. Sometimes it seems a combo may have a slight impact but only for a very short time. I ave been on combos of more than 50 meds and ECT. I will never undergo ECT again even though pdoc is suggesting it. The price is way too high- loss of years of memories, not just for the short term, but forever. Concentration is also shot. Lost great career, self esteem, the works. D*** depression.

I guess we all just keep trying. There are a few treatment resistant depression clinical trials going on. I am on a list for some of them You may want to do some research on these. What more do we have to lose?.

Thanks for posting! ECT sounds horrible. My therapist keeps telling me, "No, you're thinking of the 1950's, they have refined it a lot more now". Does not sound good.

I've seen doctors. They've never told me what my Diagnosis is.

just gave me drugs and asked me questions.

Never really cared to ask.

I say I'm depressed, heres a drug

I say I have anxiety, heres a drug.

I say I've had manic periods, heres a drug.

I too have been on numerous drugs & combinations for over 21 yrs. some helped for a bit but then stop. Had the most success (8 yrs) w/ a drug combo that included concerta which basically has a cocaine like substance in it. I built up a tolerance to it & it made me very irritable. Also had a bit of w/draw from it.
I've tried ECT & didn't have much luck. Yes it has improved & has become more focused but still does the same thing. My one Pdoc said it was like trying to jump a car w/ electricity to breath new life into it. I get the idea, but it didn't produce anything besides some memory loss. I am not looking into TMS but bec it's so new I know insurance won't cover it. I've asked my Pdoc to think outside the box when he comes up w/ the next combo bec right now I'm on rock bottom again.
Keep pushing for something. Be your own advocate bec no one else really will be.
Good luck!
