I don't think it's silly at all! It sounds like a horrible experience. My T and I were talking about "bravery" like that and emergencies and how one is able to deal with them but then can fall apart when it's "safe" afterwards.

Do you have any "dog parks" in London, anywhere you can take your dog for fun, make it an outing for you, your dog and daughter (take a box lunch/snack perhaps)? http://www.londondogparks.com/

Can you take you and your dog to the Battersea Dogs Home? http://www.dogshome.org/ Maybe they can help both of you together? You could take a class with your dog, the two of you bond again and be confident with one another. Maybe call them and see if they can meet with you and just listen to you and your story; maybe you just need a sympathetic ear that's "there" and knows what you are going through and can help somehow. Or call animal control and have someone come talk to you, tell you what's happening so you know and any "worst" can be over?

You did a brave thing there saving your dog like that, and it is great that you both came out unharmed. I do understand your fears, but you can't stay in the house forever and though the girl's death has brought the spotlight onto pitbulls again, you're probably just about as safe now to take your dog out as you were before. In fact you're probably safer because I imagine that now the owners of the pitbulls and other illegal dogs are trying to hide them before they get seized by the police. Perhaps you could take some kind of weapon with you to walk your dog - a can of pepper spray or something, perhaps? Or perhaps your local police station could give you some advice on defence?

Silly? Not at all!! Wow, it's amazing you or your dog didn't get seriously hurt.
I may get alot of bad feedback but I don't like pitbulls. They are very dangerous dogs and I think they should be outlawed. Everyone keeps saying that it's the way they are raised but that isn't necessarily the case. Those dogs are bred with that killer instinct and can be set off for no reason at all.
I am so glad that you and your precious dog are OK.
Wishing you the best.
Hugs,
Linda

Boopers, Thats my take on pitbulls also..only today I was talking about how people aren't allowed to keep tigers and lions, so why pitbulls? I had a good cry after I posted this the other day. I folded the pc away and the tears just came. My H wondered what the hell was wrong. I said I can't get that latest killing out of my head and I'm afraid Maydn (my dog) will be killed by one. Since letting this out finally, I feel less obsessive about it. Whether I;ll more relaxed walking out with her, time with tell.

Thank you for responding and Perna thank you for taking the time to post those links.

I feel the same as you. I had a dog attacked for no reason. My ex who had his black belt and was incredibly strong couldn't pull the dog off. The owner just stood there. Finnally in desperation my ex said call it off or he would kill it. I have never forgot that and each time I wonder if that dog ever did anyone else harm. The shock takes awhile to process and I am sorry you have to go through this right now. Good advice to get out and replace the bad memory with a good one.Good Luck. so silly but its killing me
