I don't remember what it feels like to be happy. I've been depressed since I was 15 years old and now I'm 22 and my depression is getting worse everyday. I wonder if it will get better one day but I can't picture that possibly. My depression has led to many things such as anxiety, stress, paranoia which led to high blood pressure, migraines, chest pains, etc... I feel like I'm fighting a battle that cannot be won. This thing has taken over my life and I don't know what else to do.

Hi I'm so sorry you feel that way. I am in a similar boat.
Personally I've finally made the decision to get on medication and I just made an appt.
Have you thought about that?
I have mixed feelings about meds but right now they are my biggest source of hope.

Welcome to PC Bored-are you currently under pdoc/tdoc care? It also sounds like you need to put together some solid coping skills/strategies to help you get past this. It's hard to get yourself motivated while in a depressive state but you've taken a good first step by reaching out here. Good luck & take care.

I've been prescribed to numerous depression medicine but I was never able to commit to them. The only medicine that made me feel better was Xanax but it's addictive. It really helped my anxiety.

I'm not under any psychiatrist care at this moment but I'm hoping to start seeing one soon. I've been saying that to myself for a while but I never went through with it yet.

I always suggest that people try non-drug ways to improve depression if you haven't already. You can find ideas in the "Depression Success Stories" section of this forum among other places.

I'm sorry you're in such a bad way and that this has been going on for so long.

I question my "identity" at what my "normal" feelings should or should not be without diagnosis. It's a tough one when you feel trapped under the wheel of emotions.

Are you involved in any activities that engage you in a stimulating way? Going to gym? Belonging to a club of some sort?

I'm just wondering if there's some you can do away from the hum drum of life.

This was my initial plan but so far it doesn't seem to be working.

I'm depress because I have this void in my life which seems impossible to fill. I've tried to fill it with many different things but no matter what I do I still end up feeling sad and lonely.

I've step outside my comfort zone just a tad and I'm currently trying to push myself to do more. I think I may need a therapist to help me build up my self-esteem in order for me to gain self-confidence.

Hi...SaraJean?

Please be careful. Here is a link to apathyqueen who has been following the path that you are about to start. She saw an advertisement for paxil and then went to her M.D. who just wrote her a prescription for it. See her description of what followed.

I think that starting treatment for depression by taking an antidepressant is a terrible and even dangerous idea. Please see my response in that thread.
