I live in a small town. I have no support systems and I suffer from depression and anxiety. I feel very alone. I was in the hospital for a while. But now that i am out i feel like i am going under again and all they can offer me here is medication. Does anyone have any suggestions or ideas about anything that might make me feel better. I am grasping at straws.

Hi stillstruggling and welcome to PC.

I'm sure it must be difficult for you right now. I'm sorry you are having these difficult times.

About all I can suggest to you at the moment is to keep posting here and telling us what's going on. We are a very supportive community here and I'm sure many can understand exactly what you are going through.

How long have you been on your meds? If it's less than about a month, then you may not start feeling better for another couple of weeks. It can take 4 - 6 weeks before they really kick in. (antidepressants that is)

Again, welcome to PC. I can offer you a hug and a shoulder to lean on when you need it.

Take care,
J

First Welcome!

It took a lot of courage to post this...reaching out here you will find very supportive people.

Small town - does that mean a long distance to a larger city that would have therapists?

Feeling alone is one of the hardest things. Reach out as much as you can. Here is a good place. I am new here but I see many good people.

Building a support system is what really helped me. It took awhile but I was able to do it. Keep positive and baby steps count. Keep moving even if slowly to the place you want to be.
