I wish I knew the cause of all the different depressions....I still don't understand...

I think there may be something called pre-depression...where a person is at risk of
developing a major depression...

Hi Little Turtle,
Often I think depression is caused by society in addition to brain factors. What do you think? I mean, society including our family. Particularly the way our parents and others dealt with us

I agree with Clara. But just to add; maybe its the natures way of testing us to become different and see the world differently. Just for the sake of diversity. It is cruel!

fuzzy---I hope we can learn to respect and love the little kids inside of us...
I am reading missildine's book [your inner child of the past]....he could help..
I was helped by a psychiatrist and a psychologist but they both died from heart disease...they cared about me...I think they liked me...I wish I could have kept going with them...you and I can now help each other

campervanman----------I must let you know that I did a lot of stupid things..
I made a lot of mistakes....I did some beautiful things...so I must be a human being....to err is human...

as a psychiatrist I realize how much is NOT KNOWN...
I believe that there is a LOT OF BS OUT THERE....

Why do so many doctors out there lie?

I suppose sometimes it's preferable to the alternative of "brutal honesty"

(Not about anyone on pc)

I don't know fuzzy....reality can be very terrible...
I think many people are afraid of mental illness...I am...
things are sometimes out of control..
but too many people without mental illness look down on us as inferior..
stigma is strong now about any difference you might have...
most people I have known with mental illness don't kill others..
if they kill it is themselves...very very sad...
and if we were accepted more we could be helped more..
I feel very very sad...tears are there for all my friends

doctors don't have time for us ...

we are seen as patients...not as human beings..
this may help the doctors...but it may not help us...
I want to be a friend of my doctor....I don't want to be a number
I don't want to be a mental illness...I have a mental illness

I just want to be A PERSON with a mental illness

i am not happy....I want to FEEL BETTER..i am looking at the neurotransmitters now...I am going to study serotonin again....I am looking for some way to take tryptophan to get off the celexa I am on...I cant stand being hooked on this anti-depressant....I am very frustrated and mad at the drug companies that I trusted...I no longer trust the psychiatric system and the drug companies....they have screwed me over...

if I find anything out that works for me I will let you all know right away...so many things have not worked...I want something that works....I want to feel better...
