Im at wits end. Today is just another day in hell. State Farm called, there are problems with my flood insurance and it looks like im going to have to pay triple the amount on that insurance becuase i made a claim from that ***** katrina. Now i cant afford the insurance, so im %#@&#! out of luck. Then the mental health clinic calles and cancels the appointment i have on july 16th and wants to reschdule for late in august. Sorry, but i've been trying since feb to get help and this just keeps happeneing. Everything keeps falling through. Im sick and tired of it. I, as of the very second, am no longer taking my meds. Im taking matters into my own hands. The hell with the health system, they dont give a flying %#@&#!. Im miserable and trying so hard to get back to some normalcy in my life and health. But i keep getting knocked down. I take one step forward, then 5 steps back. The hole im in is so deep and life just keeps throwing mud on top of me. I dont know what else to do. I've tried all resources and they've all failed me. Their is no path, no direction, no compass that i can follow to see out of this. 23 months of working my *** off and for what. For nothing, absolutley nothing.

you're a survivor. i saw a whole lot of katrina on tv. i was depressed over it for quite awhile (i live in pennsylvania). you have my deepest respect and sympathy in what you're going through. when the aftermath of katrina was going on and still going on, i feel like there's no hope in fixing this, particularly improving the help for those like you who really need it. it's not right that you have to wait so long to get help in terms of mental health. i truly know the feeling of desperation because i've been there (i'm deaf and have been my whole life, which complicates getting help because most in the mental health system don't understand deaf people with depression). i've had to jump crazy hurdles to get the right help that i know i needed. i'm sorry that you're having to go through hurdles like that. just wanted you to know that i fully understand the hurdles. and we're here for you anytime. i wish you the best - absolutely the best. you do deserve the best.

Thanks Wickedwings and Sabau. I always feel like crap after posting cuase i feel like im just complaining about what so many are sick and tired of hearing about. But i do feel better after getting it out.

My doc did call me back and what i expected said she will not take me off the cymbalta. She finally prescribed me something that i hope will help me sleep. Her nurse called the clinic and got an appt for me on aug 6th and not the end of the month. Im going to try this med cause i need some releif from worry and tension. As for the appt, its to far off again in the future to think about right now.

I dont know about that snowy. I just went and checked my backyard fence and chainwall cause Murphy Oil demo'd the house behind me. I'm happey that the house behind me is now gone. It was such an eyesore, especially with the hole in the roof. But like i said earlier one step forward and five back. Murphy Oil tore up the chainwall and fence knocking the house down. I took pictures of it and now gonna have to deal with Murphy about this. They just dont care about damaging others property. Im so sick and tired of this ********.

Chalmette...I am not up to date on your situation...but identified with the title of you "shades of gray" post.
Are you a victim of Katrina, and still not getting the help you need? If so, this is outrageous!
I am sending my loving and healing thoughts your way.

Yes seeker i lost everything. I had 10 feet of water in my house for three weeks. The majority of my family and friends have gotten their houses demolished and moved away. And most are in other states, becuase they became so frustrated with the whole situation here and gave up and went elsewhere. And no to your other question. I was turned down for any government help. I am rebuilding my home as i earn my wages at work. I've given up to on my local, state, and federal goverment but i dont have the choice of moving away like others have at this time. I honestly hope that another storm comes and wipes us out again, cause next time there wont be anything left here in St. Bernard parish and thats me included.

Chalmette...I haven't been able to stop thinking about your situation! This is not right! Something needs to be done! Is there anyone I can contact?!!! I've thought I should write a letter to a congressman or someone!
We live in the USA, where things are supposed to be taken care of! I will write to my own Senators!
Love

Seeker, thank you for wanting to help. But, honestly i dont think it will help. The mayor of NO, parish (county) presidents of St. Bernard and Plaquemine all went to Washington this past week begging for help from the federal goverment. St Bernard was turned down again for any levee repairs. They (federal and state gov) have decided to make us the barrier island now to save the city of New Orleans. We still cant even drink our faucet water, it needs to be boiled. Simple resources cant be fixed here becaue the parish does not have the money and fema wants us to pay for it firest and they will reimburse so much of it. The next storm that comes our way only needs to have a storm surge of 6 feet and we will flood like before if not worse. I've written and called myself the state senators and representatives, nothing happens, i dont even hear back from Landrieu or Vitter, or any of them for that fact. The government has better things to do.

I"m going to PM you, and then write to my own state senators with your address! Senator Robert Bird is the oldest man there in the Senate! I like him and think he would at least give ear to the letter!
PM'ing now!
This is NOT right!

I am so sorry that our country is letting New Orleans die. I wanted to move there and lived there in the summer of 2004, but didn't stay. I don't know what to say to help . . .hugs and hugs

Hi Wants to. The city isnt that bad. The uptown area, the quarter and the arts district is all back. The other areas of the city aint dat great though. You can always move back, but be prepared to pay double on rent. A two bed/1 bath double shotgun will run you about 1200 now. Thank you and hope one day to see ya around down here.

Yeah, it doesnt look much diffenet than the first day allowed back. But me and some neighbors are rebuilding and trying to make our street nice again. Its just hard walking out the front door and having an eyesore in the front of ya and everywhere you look. One good thing is the house behind me was demolished by murphy the other day and now i have a clear view of the sky.

Pat, you and everyone here at pc help me, by supporting me and listening to my crap. Im sorry if im ever a burden. If i am please say something.

Thank you Pat and all the rest of ya's.

I can't believe you would think yourself a burden...get that thought right out of your head. You would NEVER be a burden. You are a woman with much strength and determination....a great combo I think.

I am glad you have a great view of the sky now instead of all the eyesores. Soon each eyesore will deminish....
