a few years ago I sought help through mental health when I became overwhelmed with depression. although I have suffered from it all my life it became apparent I needed further help. Iam not one to take meds but she at least gave me meds to help me sleep and increase my appitite. It help did help me without any side affects I was scared of. Long story short after I paid my bill and it was time to refill my prescription they all assuden had no records of me even being there. If this is what they call help, count me out. So now I am in a state of depression even worse than before and I know I need help but I am scared I will not get the help I truly need and afraid I will be forgotten once again. I went online to find a therapist but to tell you the truth I cant afford it. I am on my own and am far away from any friends or family to turn to. although it is nice to talk to my sister about how im feeling(venting) I dont think she truly understands what its really like to feel the way I do. I also feel I am a bother and she has a family she needs to focus on rather than a crazy sister.

Have you tried calling around to see if any therapists in your area work on a sliding scale? Your experience sounds very frustrating, I can understand why you are worried. Try not to give up on all therapists, just like regular doctors there are some bad mixed in with the good and there are also some really good doctors that just make mistakes, it's not their intent but they are human too.

so sorry you had this experience. i agree with gimmeice about good and not so good T.
you mentioned that you couldn't afford a T at the present time. is it possible you may qualify for some state assistance to get the help you need? or perhaps a crisis line that can offer some suggestions of how to go about getting a t on a sliding scale.
from my experience sometimes we just have to be persistant to get the help we need even if it takes all your mental energy to do that.
i'm glad your sister is available by phone even tho she may not be able to relate to your depression. siblings can at least remind us that we are loved and we all need that reminder especially when we feel so low.
another thing you are doing to help yourself is expressing how you feel at the pc forum. there are many of us that have faced the same challenges and i am sure there will be other suggestons. keep in touch with us here. we care.
