Hi Gr3tta. How have your wife's eyes settled after the surgery? What's happening with the gastric surgery? I don't know how you do it. Seems like one constant battle. Hope you can plan something nice too. Other holiday plans here. Nothing much am going to get together with family Christmas eve. Small gathering but I can handle that. What about yourself Gr3tta?

The narc family doesn't sound too good at all Marilyn. Do you have some-one in real life to talk to about that? It's so close to christmas now. Very easy to give up on taking care of ourselves due to being busy with too much to do. Have to say that parties and food are hard for me and finding that stop button for my brain when I get home to stay away from the food isn't too easy.

I saw Bohemian Rhapsody last week. It made me sad but then I saw that many facts were skewed. What do they say? Never let the facts get in the way of a good story.

Any who, I went and got my quarterly blood tests done for diabetes and a few other things last Wednesday. Have not made a follow up appointment with the GP because I dont want a rip from him. Not sure what he will say if he weighs me because the weight has been going on. I have been taking Vyvanse for my binge eating disorder. I was started off at the lowest dose of 30mg and and am due for an increase to 50mg in a couple of days. Hope that helps.

Wish we could have a walking group on here but somehow morph it into real life. Any takers?

Possum, narc family problem resolved for now.I have been one month no contact.

I just had my annual diabetic review, they took blood and did my HC1 test etc
I also cancelled the follow up with the nurse cos I knew the results were that blood sugars were too high and I didn't want them forcing me onto some medication that would cause my body more problems.Meanwhile I have the same problems with foods and eating the wrong things only ten times worse cos it's christmas.

I have resolved to go on a strict diet to get my sugar levels down and get healthy starting in the new year.
Thanks for this!

Hope you can maintain the distance from troubled family members Marilyn. Next year is not that far away so fingers crossed a change in the page can help us both make changes.

I saw my P'doc today. We talked about writing when the binging was happening. Least that way we can track what is happening and when. Might start to make more sense.

Let's hope we can both get back on track Possum. The doctor got back to me with blood results, sugars are high as are liver results.I told the doctor I had had a scan and they diagnosed fatty liver, she wants me to go in for an examination and have another scan, and she wants me to see the diabetic nurse for a medication review,so I have an appointment for Monday 7th January.

I have been no contact with family for a month now!

I am pleased that your doctor got in contact with you Marilyn. Means that they care. Also good that the appointment is made. Maybe a tweak in your meds can help you feel better and help you stay positive and keep on track.

Having a scan will also let you and the dr know if anything else is going on.

Hi possum I think I will wait for Bohemian Rhapsody to be available to stream. Although i am curious to see it.
My wife's eyes are better, thanks for asking! She is having some follow up laser treatments to prevent more problems, i hope they will help. Her gastric pacemaker surgery is tomorrow, and it was down to the wire getting insurance approval. Good to go though, i hope this will help her. She also has a new endocrinologist that we both like much better than the last one. I hope we can have a go at transplant in the coming year.
I really hope your med change will help with the binge eating. Was your quarterly check up okay otherwise? I love to walk with my dog. By myself i would find it hard to get motivated.

Hi marylin i hope your scan will be helpful. I'm glad your doctor is following through. Do you see a dietician? They can help you meal plan for the new year, if you feel you need help. Great job drawing boundaries with negative family.

Hi Gr3tta. Yes, there are some movies that I like to see at a theatre and others I am more than happy to wait to view at home. Eyesight is so important so am pleased that your wife's eyes are better. Sounds like the doctors know what they are doing to keep on top of the issue.

That is good that the insurance approval for the gastric pacemaker went though. Must have been hard while waiting for it to be approved. Thinking good thoughts that all goes well with the surgery for the both of you.
What kind of dog do you enjoy walks with?

Today I took the last Vyvanse of 30mg. Considering that it costs $113 per month I am not wasting it. Yesterday wasnt so bad with food. It's always a good night when you can sleep in your own bed at night and not the recliner.

Thanks for your kind thoughts Gr3tta.I haven't been able to see the doctor yet, scan will probably be in the new year now.I do see the diabetic nurse on 7th January to see if the new meds available are suitable to control my blood sugars.I have to try see my doctor as well but there are no prebookable appointments so I have to ring up in the mornings for that day's available appointments.I wish you and your wife a Happy christmas and New Year 2019.Your wife has a lot of health issues I hope she continues to make progress with her health in the new year.Blessings to you both!
Thanks for this!

I'm not sure if anyone's posted about this yet (so I will)

but the more a dog kisses you the higher your sugar levels

so if you have a dog.... well, beware of the kisses

I think this is gross, but if it helps people..

Really I didn't know that. I will "try" and make sure my dog doesn't kiss me as much.

I think she meant, its not that its bad for the dog. The problem is that it might mean your sugar is too high, thats what is making you more tasty to your dog!

So its like your dog is trying to alert you that there is a potential problem.

This gave me a good laugh. I am glad because I don't have a dog. I wonder how that could raise a person's blood sugar level?

Hello we've had quite a few events. My wife's surgery went well, but she's having a rather rough recovery. Has a follow up appointment next week. Her blood sugar has been pretty good, so that's a positive.

Possom i hope that pricey medicine will be worth it! Managing the costs is always an added challenge. I hope you are having more good nights in your own bed.

Marylin thank you. I hope you can see your doctors soon, and that they will be helpful to you.

Welcome to new posters, and i hope everyone is feeling well and can have a good weekend!
Thanks for this!

Do you take insulin? With blood sugar that high I would think so. Try to take your blood sugar more often. I take mine five times a day.

I too think I am in danger with blood sugars that high so I am immediately cutting out all sugar and chocolate and soda out of my diet, and I will eat some chicken and more protein.

I am focused now on bringing my blood sugars down, yesterday after a sugar binge eating ice creme, chocolate and soda and alcohol I realised my blood sugars were way too high.I rose at 5am this morning,my blood sugar was 459,so that is terrible.I had breakfast and took my medications.I will measure again at 7am and avoid any foods with added sugar.I will take it two hours at a time and monitor frequently what my blood sugars are doing. There is no doubt that I am a sugar addict and I have to beat this addiction because it is putting me in danger of severe diabetic complications.I am still due to see the diabetic nurse on July 7th.
