Numb to it all, how much can one person take??

Talked to my brother yesterday, he has an infection around his bag site. It came off one night and they called the home health nurse who told them to just put it back on the best they could. Think it was so early in the morning she didn't want to be bothered with him. Needless to say it took them over an hour to figure it out and now it's infected. His doctor is not happy what so ever with the home health. He's not feeling good these last few days.

His report came back from his surgery and they found out they did not get all the cancer out. Been really upset since hearing the news about the report. Was hard talking to him because he sounded so sick yesterday.

This morning was a bad day. Got up this morning and found I didn't have any hot water for a shower. The kitchen sink was leaking and the hot water pipe had cracked. OK, so I just washed my hair in cold water before going to work. Got to work and found that I had forgotten my med at home. So I haven't had any med today. Then my "d" called. This is where I've become just so numb I can't take anymore. My "d" said that he wanted my "m" to sit down with both my sister and me and tell us. But my sister is in Wisconsin trying to find an apartment. This is where I knew it was bad news. My "d" was diagnosed with prostate cancer last week. He stated that he's having surgery next week. I'm just flat. Is nothing. I can't even be upset anymore. A person can only take so much and then everything else is just numb.

I am really sorry to hear all of this. I agree with Kimmy, perhaps being numb for a while isnt such a bad thig. This is so much for you to handle at one time.

Take some time for you, even just a hot bath, candles and soothing music. It is important to take care of you through all of this.

Dee got the sink fixed and I'll have hot water when I get home and then take my med. Haven't hurt any today. So that's a good thing. Just ready to go home and watch Tv and not think about anything. Going to make home visits tomorrow. Called one of my new lady's and she told me that her birthday is tomorrow. She doesn't have any family so I decided that I'm going to get some cupcakes and watch the Price is Right with her tomorrow. Something light where I don't have to think.
