I am thinking about trying some mindfulness. Have you tried? Did you find it helps?

What other resources help you? Therapies and books?

here where I am mindfulness is staying grounded, staying focused, staying consciously aware... so to answer your question yes it helped me and was a huge part of my integration process.

by any chance do you mean meditation ( the therapy approach / art of deep breathing, closing your eyes and relaxing, focusing your thoughts on your body and purposely doing breathing and other techniques to lower your stress and tightness in your body)

if so the answer is yes I do many forms of meditation including self meditations, guided meditations and class meditations like yoga, tai chi and others.

Yes, I mean the meditation form.
I don't know how stay focused by myself, being taught how to do that is an option.
Thanks for this!

I would if I could...tried it with a group....but our mind is too busy, so switchy, can not meditate let alone concentrate....

Then ending up dp/dr’ing with Susie taking over and getting us to our car.

I tried to meditate, but the others would say something that would destroy the mood. We are an active mind group, so there is no peace in this head let alone quietness. I always thought it was quick thinking to intrusive thoughts...but no, just a bunch of big mouths that don’t know when to shut up...lol

You know...if I could I would 100%. There are so many benefits to meditating physical and mental health...even spiritual, too.

It’s hard to pray when others are telling you it’s stupid, nothings going to happen, what’s the weather going to be like today, what outfit would be good to wear tonight,....

My therapist taught me that mindfulness was just being aware of what's going on in the present moment.Purposely trying to focus on things I normally did/do on auto-pilot. Even something as simple as washing my hands and paying attention to what I was doing, actually feeling the water and soap on my hands as I wash them.Same with going for a walk, noticing and feeling my feet on the ground, the air I breathe in,my breathing, the sun shining on me,etc. And feeling myself in the chair during sessions, how the chair felt on my back,on my butt, legs, etc. And I did and do find it very helpful.

And meditation,he said instead of trying so hard to quiet my mind and not have any thoughts there to just let everything be there, whatever thoughts and images come up.Just notice them, acknowledge them but not get caught up in them.I actually learned quite a bit about myself and my system through meditation once I stopped trying so hard to push everything away to get a quiet mind.

I meditate differently now though.I can quiet my mind, not always, but when I can't I just let whatever is there be there and observe without letting myself get caught up in it.Many times after I'm finished I feel so relaxed and rejuvinated.

Hi. We're Slayer of Virtues; trying really hard... Abusive dad drank himself to death after the new year's party at his nursing home. Plus, we're dealing w loss of Shrink, physical stuff. PT books arriving today; hooray. Back surgery, Stage 3 Kidney disease, Rotator cuff surgery last year... But we're more than half-way thru writing our novel--NOT AS SLAYER--so it's okay to say here. Meditation is TOPS. We do visualization, Relaxation response, mindfulness & Centering prayer. There's a new interactive meditation app... I use a Fisher Wallace stimulator, too for the depression, trauma & insomnia.

Mindfulness has been helpful to me. For me it mainly means focusing on daily activities, as has been mentioned. Paying attention to washing hands, brushing teeth, doing chores, walking. I only do body scan meditation (can be found on YouTube). Doing "traditional" meditation only paying attention to my mind and thoughts has been very damaging to me and triggered my dissociation.
