So ive been a diagnosed bulimic teen for the past two years now. I've unfortunately I have been an anorexic my whole life. I just was never diagnosed that as a child. Anyways, more than a year ago i supposedly graduated from my program and had gotten over my previous ways. But well, once a bulimic always a bulimic. It's something that will never fully be gone. (and as a diclaimer, i apologize to anyone whom i might offend, if your gonna have a problem at least be light hearted about it and laugh every now and then) so as i was sayig, well, its coming back around full circle. This time worse than before. I've began to notice the body changes and what bulimia does to it. So after this long ramble, I was just curious from anyone who might be goin through the samething, if you have expirenced any deep chest pains as if theres a hole or severe injury to your esophagus or something. I've had it for a while now and i noticed it started when i began to throw up atleast 2 times a day. So do you think it could be from that? And if so, what might be damaged?

You might have a partially ruptured esophogus or scratches from your nails in the back of your throat. There is also the possibility of elecrolyte imbalance, making your heart feel "weird," or you might've acquired a moderate ulcer because you have so little stomach acid.
I am NOT in any way a doctor, but those are some symptoms that can come around because of bulimia. Look it up on health websites! Bulimia can have fatal consequences and I would strongly encourage you to talk to a trusted counselor or authority figure to get help ![]() |

thank you so much for the reply!!! It's scarring the heck out of me, i dont know whats goin on in there. Im scared to tell my parents about it because i know they will freak out. They already are threatening to a hospital and send me back to therapy. And considering to not let me attend college in the fall. I hope its none of those and just a mild case of crazy heart burn. But thank you soooo much for the reply!!! I appreciate it a ton!

(((hugs))) I'm sure it does hurt ALOT!!!! I can almost feel it from afar...
I am also NOT a doctor... but my pain in the middle of my chest was from my esphogus and a hialtial hernia ( I know spelling LOL)... lots of pain.... had to go to hospital, have a test to look at it all - they put on meds to counter the acid....the hernia hurts like you wouldn't believe every once in a while.. I didn't want surgery on it yet - not till I'm done with this ED - might do worse damage during recovery from surgery if I still have the ED... Please go get it checked out by professional... Sincerely, freewill |

Sometimes fear can be the best motivator.
Your parents, in my opinion, shouldn't dictate your future, especially your college education! Most universities offer counseling and psychological services (I am currently using this myself), as well as a health clinic to get your chest pains checked out--AND they work with almost any insurance company. I encourage you to check it out! If you have the counseling services, that will reassure your parents that someone will be watching your health and helping you recover. Good luck! |

Hi....
my hernia pain is down lower.... my esphogus pain (burning and sharp pain) is middle (between boobs and goes higher)... my lungs(due to asthma and coughing up acid is between boobs and higher - hurts, hurts hurts,,,,, my muscles also hurt from effort to breathe at times (asthma and throwing up).... my glands in my throat hurt when all this is going on because my system gets so out of wack - they swell... I relapsed over the weekend and really relapsed bad today... feeling really really low.... I guess my whole thing of going thru this with you wasn't to scare you or put you off.... but I would give anything to turn back time and not feel this way.... I guess I care too much... (sorry if I came on to strong)... I can't fix the damage that was done to my body...but sometimes I think just maybe I can help one other person and it will be worth it... My family practice DR didn't address any of my problems because she just had treated one other person with an eating disorder... In oct of this year, I went to an internist and she sent me to specialists... who did tests to find out all that had gone wrong...but the whole situation went on to long with my family practice Dr,,,, too bad for me... just hurting today,,,,freewill |

dang...im sorry to hear you fell back again....it's the worst feeling to fall back. It's just a horrible failure feeling but, YOU ARE NOT A FAILURE. Always remember that! But, I totally forgot, actually i just didnt think it had anything to do with it but I too am an asthmatic. And I've had swollen glands before, sometimes it comes and goes. but wow...i never really knew all the physical damage it does. I tried to research the harmful consequences of bulimia but they all say the same standard stuff: scabbed knuckles, sore throat, loss of stomach acid, esophagus pain, or rupture, sudden death, things like that but none of the stuff ive been finding out thru here. thank you so much! i hope your week goes better, your strong, you can bounce back from this relapse!
