I would like to lose like 20 pounds in two months. My birthday is at the beginning of May and I really want to go to the beach and be able to wear a two piece swimsuit. I'm a female of course and 5'4", about 180lbs. How can I lose 20 pounds in two months in a safe and healthy way?

If you'll excuse a male perspective here, I had to do a lot of gaining and losing when I was power lifting a few years ago. Due to the nature of the sport, when you need to make a weight class, doing it in as healthy a way as possible is key. Doesn't do you any good to be in a weight class if you're about to feint from malnutrition. I've always had a hard time losing weight so I really struggled sometimes. However, I did find a way to lose 35lbs. over 1 summer. The key for me was diet and resistance training, especially swimming. You may have been swimming before and noticed that you were just famished when you got out of the pool. This is because simply moving around in water causes quite a bit of resistance and calories burn off really quickly. Basically I went for a nice long swim, and then gorged myself on lots of protein when I got out. In my other meals, I just made an effort to limit carbs/sugar. Worked wonders for me when nothing else did, and I felt great. Actually doing the same program again this year, working well so far.

I'm not sure it will be quite two months from this alone, but I slimmed down enough for my old jeans to be loose in 3-4 months by cutting out a lot of junk. I stopped bringing home things like soda or potato chips and limited myself to just a couple of quick or frozen items (pizza, burritos, etc) in stock at any given time so that I'd be more motivated to make and eat real meals.

From my experience you should give up sugar and eat more proteine (low fat one), and workout at least 3 times per week, walk as much as you can. Also you can try some homemade remedies for fat burning: Green tea with ginger powder and lemon, grapefruit, pineapple... Hope you will reach your goal soon

Hi Kitty. I understand that you birthday has passed but I would like to state some of my own minor successes. I was usually able to get down about 10 pounds by eating smaller portions of food and eating the right things. What I mean by this? Fist of all no junk food. Absolutely NO! Yes, I know they taste kinda great but the are definitely NOT healthy for you or for anybody as the matter of fact. Also try to reduce the sweets. Replace them with some fresh vegetables and fruits. If you wish to have a chocolate or something else that is sweet, try and eat an apple instead. And if you don't feel like it, force yourself. After a certain period of time, your body will get used to it and it will become a good routine, at least for me it was.
Try to cut down on the carbs as well. Replace your every day bread with some bagels made from whole wheat grains and flour. As the last thing, try to do some exercise. Like I said before, this helped me to lose about 10 pounds but I HAVE TO lose MORE. I must get myself in shape if I want to live longer and I definitely don't want to go under the knife. That's why I started looking for some other gastric bypass alternatives and I think I found one, but more about that some other time.
