WE needed to start a new diet thread.
So I will repost my last entry:

I have managed to lose a few pounds water weight probably but it is a start.
179....I hope that I never get in the 180's again!
made it one week AF.
Lunch:
chicken salad
Dinner:
split an order of bang bang shrimp and had one slice of bread with pesto olive oil, chicken, lilly's from bone fish grill. It was so delicious!
with spinach, basil and artichokes and goat cheese and lemon butter sauce. side of spinach and brocoli. I cut up half and boxed it up right away to bring home as it was a lot of food.
It will be lunch tomorrow.
I decided to quit the more expensive gym and rejoin the planet fitness one and save $55 a month.

Just posting to join the thread. I'm still not trying to lose weight because of some health issues. Hopefully I'll have some answers tomorrow.

This has been a 2100 calorie day. I will weigh myself tomorrow morning. I made another loaf of banana bread. It should be ready in about a half an hour from now. Oh yes, my Nutribullet works fine. It makes short work of frozen fruit.

I have been stuck between 156-160 pounds for weeks now. So frustrating! How do I get unstuck? I eat almost 1000 calories a day. Mostly healthy food.

I imagine you have heard this before, but you are eating far too little.

Yesterday made the 7th day in a row that I was within 15% of 1500 (recommended minimum for men). I had a long string of days where I averaged under 1000; I lost a half pound a day for about two and a half months. That wasn't healthy. It is going to try my patience, because I am now looking at March/April instead of January to reach goal. I have lost 41/58 so far.

Basically by eating so little, you are forcing your body's metabolism to slow down. So yes, it is causing you to be stuck. Try this calculator tool to determine what you would need to eat to maintain, lose weight, and lose weight very quickly:

https://www.freedieting.com/tools/ca...calculator.htm

I plugged in my info and I would need 2289 calories to maintain my weight, 1832 for weight loss and 1374 if I wanted to lose weight very quickly. I would honestly ignore the extreme fat loss number and shoot for the middle one.

Also don't forget to exercise if you are able. Gaining lean muscle naturally speeds up your metabolism and it has many positive effects for both body and mind. There are many free videos available online that I would be happy to share with you.
Thanks for this!

Metabolism only slows slightly unless you do a severe restriction for a very long time. I averaged under 1000 calories a day for over 2 months. My rate of loss was about a half a pound a day all the way through; there was no significant change in my metabolism. That was absolutely not healthy and I am not recommending it, just pointing out that short term stints of severe caloric restriction don't destroy your metabolism. When they put severely obese patients on VLC diets under a doctor's care, they go months without a break and continue to lose at a high rate.
When I was losing at the high rate, I still had some periods where my weight didn't change for a few days and then would plunge. Sooner or later the math caught up with me.

Another day close to 1500. Still a little snack heavy but with low starch and lean meat, my meals are usually pretty low calorie.

Well, I'm out for a while. I have a "bunch" of gallstones and have been referred to a surgeon. I don't know when I will meet the surgeon or when surgery will be scheduled (it's a little tricky because I'm on an MAOI which means specialized anesthesia protocol with anesthesiologists trained in the protocol and I have to go to the big hospital where I get psych care so that they are safe with the MAOI).

So know I'm cheering for you but I'll probably not follow this thread very carefully until I am better. It's really frustrating that my weight loss journey has come to a screeching stop even knowing it's just a pause. I am at 206 lbs and so frustrated at being so close to 204 (weight when I started clozapine) and 199 (under 200 for the first time in a long time). I just want to lose weight and yet right now I have to be eating first. Instead eating is so hard I've nearly fainted from low blood sugar a few times.

Good luck to everyone!

I totally blew my diet tonight,
ate potato chips, almonds, candy....
I hope it is not the zyprexa catching up with me.
Or maybe the sugarless candy, it was so dissatisfying...I wanted to eat the whole bag!!!!!
I think it triggered my cravings to snack.
I never snack like that!
maybe I should just throw the rest away?

jeff will be gone tomorrow, I don't like it when he is away.

I forgot to post my menu for the day. I had a 2000 calorie day. If I was not very full, I would have ate a apple or banana to push the calories up to 2100. This is the minimum calorie intake I want to consume. Also I still weigh 177.

Update: I forgot to include the butter that I used on the slices of banana bread. So this makes the calorie count to a bit over 2100.

I ate healthy yesterday in the sense that I ate mostly fruit, veggies, and lean proteins. But I was still completely out of control. I still felt like I had to keep eating even when I wasn’t hungry. I logged my calories as well as my weight watcher points and while my points were in range my calories were well over 2000. So I don’t understand how WW will work. I think switching fruits to zero points doesn’t make sense bc they are still calorie dense. I’m going to continue to do both for awhile. I just don’t know how to stop this insatiable need to eat without stopping depakote. I really don’t want to, I’m starting to even out. But should I trade mental health for diabetes?

So frustrated.

I think one piece of fruit is 1 point in my head. roughly 70 calories.
I don't know how WW works so don't mind me.
(((((HUGS))))
you are making an effort so that is all that matters.

Except for short term water weight, there is a lag time of more than a day between eating and effect. To lose a pound of body mass you need a calorie deficit of 3500, which is usually accrued across a few days. My weight yesterday was a pound higher than 2 days earlier, so I ignored it; it is just a fluctuation that isn't body mass. I only ate about 3000 calories total on the two days, so I could not have eaten 3500 excess calories. In fact I am quite certain I ate less than I burned and the drop will show up within a few days.

Fruits are zero points? I just looked back a few days at my log and I go over 300 calories of fruit fairly often.

I've been tracking carbs and calories and coming in at 30 carbs a day and between 1200 and 1500 calories a day. I'll weigh tomorrow to see where I'm at.

Another day near goal. Mixed in some junk food again. I had a single Little Debbie Christmas Tree Cake today. 200 empty calories of bliss. I really need to eat more balanced meals though.
