Just mental illness?

I have not worked in 3 years. I am being provided income, I own a home, 2 cars, etc.

WHY? Do I feel SO GUILTY when it comes to sleeping? I will not sleep late. I am up at 6am or earier. I don't sleep well.

I always feel guilty when I try to take a nap.
I have a big guilt trip for not working is it just because it was an expectation for my entire life that I get up and go to work?

I can't shake it and it is impacting my health.
I go to bed really late too.

Have you been diagnosed with mental illness? Is that why you are not working or is it a choice you've made? I didn't work when my daughter was young nor most of my first marriage because my husband didn't want me to. Sounds like you have some anxiety, but I can't really diagnose you as I'm not a professional. Your body needs sleep so no need to feel guilty about getting some Zzzzzs.

Do you see a doctor? Have you been diagnosed? If not, I suggest to go get one and see by yourself..

Have you talked to your doc about not sleeping well? I wasn't sleeping well either. I had a sleep study done and found out I had sleep apnea.
Thanks for this!

You miss working, I feel the same way but I'm not on SSDI. I try to do a project and complete it for the feeling of accomplishment some days I can do it others I can't. I don't miss some of the Drama and Jokers. I hope u can get out of this funk Maybe it's a adaption process we go through excepting our personal disability's.

I feel similar. I wish I was able to work. Not sure about you but I find it humiliating that I don't. I feel a great deal of guilt when I am in a position I must be honest and admit I am on government assistance. I do anything that can be determined as being idle (napping, reading, art) and I feel guilt that I should be working.

My sleep pattern is excessive - between naps and nightfall I sleep 14 hours a day or more. Again, I feel guilty admitting this to people.

I had a big gap where I just concentrated on getting better. 3 months hospital, 3 months temp accommodation, then about 8 months in permanent place away out in a little country town away from my original town potential city. I needed to be alone away from everything. Then I moved home for three months then was in hospital for about seven months on a compulsory treatment order. Was a helluva ride. Then at least another six months at my parents house. All together was close to three years that I bummed about for. All because I never had a real chance to recover from my first breakdown at ripe old age of 18. So ten years later here I am firmly in recovery....
