filensave~
I also have something called un-do that works miracles on anything adhered such as price tags, stickers, etc. It is marketed toward scrapbookers because it's safe to use even on photos. I scrapbook so I buy it by the quart, lol. But, I use it everywhere. My husband plays golf and constantly buys new clubs. He comes straight to me with his new toy so that I can remove the stickers - I don't know what they use to bond those things but it's like trying to get into Ft. Knox to get them off. But the un-do just removes them with ease. The goo gone has a better smell to it, but I just wash off anything that's going to contain food and the smell is gone and no residue. If you craft at all, it's really nice to have handy. Or have children that play with stickers, they usually end up on a wall somewhere, lol.

And sorry you're sad, hopefully today will bring happiness into your life.

And, you're exactly right about the cutters.....my husband is one! I get so irritated with him. And then there will be something come up and he will say, you never told me that. UGH, I did, he just talked right over me and did't listen. Everytime I start a sentence he THINKS he knows what I'm going to say and jumps in to finish my statement. As you would guess, he's always wrong. Makes me think he is not at all interested in anything I have to say. ~ stepping down from soap box now, many apologies.

Along the same lines, please, please, please look at me when you talk to me or I'm talking to you.

ok, forgive the babble if you would please

Sabrina & Queen,

There is a product called un-do. It's safe on any surface including photos. It's marketed for scrapbooking because you can't get tape or a sticker off of a photo without damaging it and most other solutions are too harsh for the photo. Not certain what makes this stuff work, but I use it all over the house. You can even remove a sticker, let it dry and then re-use it. That's why the scrapbookers love it, you don't waste the sticker, so if you get something a little crooked and you're OCD like me, you just HAVE to fix that so everything is right in your world again

Something I learned last year, after putting tar on my husband's hunting camper.....tar does not easily removed from your skin. I always believe that there IS a way to build a better mouse trap, therefore to my trusty internet I go to find a solution to remove tar. To my surprise(drum roll please) Avon's Skin So Soft!!!
I always have that in the house, so I went to the sink, SSS in tow, and the tar came off like washing off mud. No harsh scrubbing, and it leaves your hands so soft and managable..... ok, ok, even I admit that was lame. Just in case anyone has made it this far into my post without falling asleep, here is the link for the internet page that contain lists of other things that SSS can be used for:

http://www.kitchencraftsnmore.net/skinsosoft.html

You know what? They should just remove that 'post quick reply' button down there on my posts, 'cause evidently mine are never going to be quick ~ my apologies again. Hopefully you did find something useful out of this though.

Hey, maybe someone should start a thread for household tips. Queen~I know you've posted a few, for example the aluminum foil tabs. I think I'll go do that now, y'all join in and help me, I don't have much other than the sticky stuff.

I'll have to look for an alternative to the product "Un-Do" as it is not sold in South Africa. But the idea of visiting a scrapbooking shop is good. I'm sure they will stock something that I can use on books.

Sabrina ~ I ordered mine from the internet. I have no idea what the website was, it's been a long time since I ordered. I had been buying 4 0unce bottles at the store and suddenly I couldn't find it anywhere in any store. I use this for everything, so I had to find it somehow and I searched the internet for un-du (I spelled it incorrectly previously) and I also searched Big Time Products (the manufacturer). I found it in a 32 ounce bottle and since I had saved all of my smaller bottles when they were empty (I don't know why....I just do stuff like that, maybe it's the OCD) So now I refill all of those from my large bottle and I'm good to go. Here's a couple of things that I forgotten: it's also sold under the name Scrapper's Solution by Un Du. And, the large bottle is labeled un-du framing adhesive remover and it's now sold under the un-du name. The website is www.un-du.com and the phone number is 1-888-929-9301. I hope this helps. By the way, it also removes fingerprints from photos.....

Let me know if you have any luck finding it.

I googled it and it is definitely not available in SA, not even on line. That doesn't surprise me. But thanks for the info anyway. I'm sure I will find an alternative. I heard methylated spirits is good for removing sticky residue but only on plastic and glass. I wouldn't try it on a book.

Perfumes being added to dishwashing liquids. Even the "green", "free", etc, have added perfumes. It is especially noticeable when I wash skillets and any sorts of non-stick, but also even stainless steel. I try to not use these things, just warm water, but when I do, then no matter how well I scrub, and how much I rinse, the moment I put on on the stove and start cooking the smell of the perfume is overwhelming. Many times I started water for rice (expensive purified water) and had to dump it, because it stank of the dishwashing perfume.

P.s. Sorry, this isn;t even a pet peeve, since it's not something people do, just what people accept from industry. And it just occured to me that I do know one dishwashing liquid that has non-chemical scent, Bio-clean, it's fragrance is from grapefruit oil and it is often used as veggie wash, to clean waxes and such. The only reason I don't use it is that my housemates go through a bottle of dish soap in no time. No matter how much I tell them they do not need to use so much, they will squirt huge globs of soap into pan WHILE running at full stream into it. Why don't you just pour my expensive dish soap directly down the drain, eh? I guess THAT is my pet peeve. Solution: MY dishwashing liquid, and THEIR dishwashing liqud,.

Sunna ~ I feel the same way about laundry detergent, bath soap and deodorant. First off, I'm allergic to most of the stuff anyway. But, if I wanted my underwear to smell like they had been on a tropicl island, I'd send them on a cruise. My arm pits do not need to smell like a spring breeze or refreshingly floral.....what is that anyway? I thought the whole idea of deodorant was so that you DON'T smell. And finally soap, grape seed oil and lemongrass, really???? Who comes up with this stuff? Why in the world do I need my fanny to smell like lemongrass? And, who's gonna get down there to find out, besides my dogs?

I long for the simpler days of my childhood:
Zest Soap
Crest Toothpaste
Prell Shampoo
Joy Dishwashing Liquid
Tide Laundry Detergent
All, one option, not 500, you just bought the brand not the smells.

Oh dear, I'm on the other side of the coin. I enjoy the perfume from my dishwashing liquid. There is a blue mint one that I use and it makes everything smell so clean. I've never noticed the smell come out when cooking. I found that interesting.

Blue Mint? Really? What brand are you using? I've never heard of this scent. But, then again, I'm on the other side of the spectrum where I like to go scentless. It may have something to do with wanting to fade into the background and be unnoticed.

HUGE pet peeve....no put intended here....people that leave their pets inside a car in the summer time. I'm going to leave it at that, or I'll be typing all day on this one subject.

Believe it or not, people do this with children and babies as well. I know my husband won't hesitate to smash a car window if he sees a child or animal harmed this way.

to glom on to the previous coments a bit and beyond, these are all quite random.

1) Neglectful and abusive parents.

2) Fat guys shirtless, dudes, no one wants to see your gut flopping over your belly or your hairy man-boobs, if your stomach does not look like Jason Statham's, at the least, put on a tank top.

3) Carmakers cost cutting and downgrading the material quality and performance of their most recent cars, offenders 2012 Civic, 2012 VW Passat, 2011 VW Jetta.

4. Circular discussion, when a couple of people go back and forth over the same conclusions endlessly, aka a p__________ng contest.

5) Rudeness-do not like it online, do not like it real life.

6) "Willfull ignorance" its ok to be ignorant, we all are at one time or another, but to ignore overwhelming evidence or refuse to learn anything new, thats different.

7) A know this one will get me in hot water. I really get ticked when Politicians, The media, talk shows talk about "Budget Cuts" in Washington. It is the biggest and yet most readily accepted lie going, there have been no budget cuts in many years. What is being described is a reduction from a baseline not from an absolute measure so in effect we have less of a Spending Increase than was planned last year.

Try that kind of bookeeping outside the beltway and you would be locked up for fraud.

8) "Muffin Tops" Women whose mid section seems to be pouring out of jeans, cut too low and two sizes too small. This is not to beat up on more robust women, I love curves myself and I think that Queen Latifah for example is a beautiful woman. Its just the issue of display.

9) Wiitards who keep trying to convence me that there little toy is superior to my PS3. I have no issue with the Wii itself, if you all have one and enjoy it, more power to you but lets face facts

Wii is an outdated platform with a gimmick controller.

My PS3 has 15X the clock speed, Blue Ray movie capabilty, 160X the memory capacity.

Witard: "But we have this coool motion controller"

Me: "so what, so do we, and ours not only senses motion, but full video (all you got is a little supermarket grade sensor) reacts faster and works with more precision.

Witard: "But we have Zelda, Donkey Kong, Mario, etc..."

Me: " Oh Please, we have Uncharted 2 (Metacritic's highest ratings average for a video game) God of War 3, Killzone 3, Granturismo 5, Metal Gear Solid 4, Infamous 2, Assasins Creed Revelations, BattleField 3, Crysis 2, Red Dead Redemption, GTA4 etc.

What you have are a handful of solid games, with a bunch of "shovelware" "

So enjoy your Wii, but hush with this nonsense that it is in anyway shape of form better than my rig.

Ok, a bit Cranky today... I will shut up now.

timgt5~I have a Wii, my husband has a PS3. The Wii is for us who are uncoordinated and technically challenged I admit this and agree the ps3 is far more advanced, my problem is that I'm not advanced. Uncharted rocks, I managed to learn enough controls to play this except for the fighting because your reflexes have to be so fast. So, I had the control over when a fight scene comes up, sad to say. Can't wait for Uncharted 3.

I hear you.
I love a shady spot. I will go totally out of my way to find one. I have even parked on the other side of the store (as in where the employees park) because it was nice and shady. I hate a hot car, then you just need to use more fuel to power up the air-conditioner.
But I think I'm on my partner's "pet-peeves" list for that one.

Ebay sellers whose terms-of-sale fill a whole page, but describe goods with one or two words and use a stock photo.

Online sellers who state "may or may not have box or manual" and avoid stating whether it's complete. Who do they think they're fooling?

Going for an evening walk, when a car passes my house once every 10 minutes, but invariably having to wait at the curb for a car to pass BOTH on the way out and return, as though someone with a mobile phone is directing them "okay, koko's walking out of the house, drive around now".

While walking along sidewalk at comfortable pace, a "polite" driver decides to "politely" stop in the middle of their turn for me to walk, even though they could have made their turn in front of me without hindering my forward movement, then impatiently inches their car forward while I'm walking so I have to speed up to ensure my safety, then they accelerate behind my heels the split second I'm 3/4th across the alley. (This happens all the time too.)

I can't stand it when a person keeps saying"you know what I mean" over and over again in a conversation.

Also, I miss being able to type into a search engine without it stalling, or lagging, while it comes up with every possible thing I'm trying to type, then puts in nonsensical garbage that I have to erase before I retype it.

And I don't like living with someone who has an incessantly whiny voice, and whines all day long about the most mundane things, most having nothing to do with me, but annoying to listen to all the time.

>>First is was a check that I should have received three weeks ago by an agency that hired me to do a job and the post office was blamed and I knew the money was just being floated and I was being played. ...

Then I went to visit my lawyer who has been not notifying me of depositions set up and then canceling them at the last minute... I got a bill yesterday that multiplied that hundred dollars over 5 times. And I did vent that out yesterday here. So now I have to take care of that, I am not going to accept their misrepresentation of an exam...

And I did tell my husband that the market was going to plunge and to move our investments around, I told him a couple of weeks ago. Well he didn't listen and now he is angry ... <<

Can you say... FUSTER CLUCK!!!!!!!
