1. I LOVE red rope or red vine licorice (not twizzlers), can't stand anything with anise or black licorice, even the smell of it, *puke*.
2. I collect sea shells and handblown glass pumpkins.
3. I am ambidextrous, which comes in handy especially at work to use the mouse with my left and write my notes with my right, but drives people at work up the wall having the mouse on the wrong side of the desk so I move it over when I leave the desk.
4. I have had more accidents than I can count in all these decades even been carried away but never more than scrapes and bruisies, a few concussions though, but been fortunate that way.
5. Inconsideration and intolerance for others bothers me more than I can say.
6. I wear glasses pretty much all the time now due to my job, no contacts allowed.
7. I have 3 dogs and wall-to-wall aquariums.
8. I enjoy woodworking: repairing and refinishing furniture, and carving.
9. I can draw and have attempted to paint recently; the painting is questionable right now.
10. I cannot stand even my own singing but still love to do it. It is so bad even the dogs howl at me. I try to think of it as we are singing together.

There are still places I would like to see, but I don't know I will ever be able to leave again and fear what that will mean, staying homebound; yet I also don't know that I can travel again either realistically. I don't know that I will be ok with this yet either. *Sigh*

this thread is one of the most interesting I've encountered on this site. I think our quirks may give us more insight into each other's nature than anything. Also, I find myself appreciating my own uniqueness more than I ever have, because I'm not focused on broad things such as "I guess I'm a giving person" or "I'm such a failure." Instead we're focused on little humorous things about ourselves that make us distinct and even can make me like myself more (good or bad). Do you think we could do more??

Here goes....

1. I'm an Eagle Scout, my brother's, our dad, and all of his brothers are too.
2. I always wanted a Harley, so in 2009 I bought one.
3. I love Camaros, so in 2012 I bought one.

6. I went back to finish my bachelor's degree at the age of 31, one semester to go.
7. I ran a poker room for a living for 7 years.
8. I'm the oldest member in history(and probably will hold that record) of a student cheering organization at my university.
9. My drinking buddy and I were voted #1 customers two years in a row at our favorite watering hole, it closed down after that.
10. I was offered a chance to go to West Point or a full ride to Yale when I graduated high school and turned them down(because of a girl I don't even know anymore).
11. I have an Asian themed decor in my den/living room.
12. The center piece of my Asian decor is a huge framed tapestry/print of a naked woman tattooed in Japanese styling.
13. My mom actually likes my "lady" as she calls the tattooed lady(or so she says).
14. My entire adult life to this point I made my home in the bar and restaurant business, waiting tables, bartending, bouncing until it morphed into my poker business.
15. I love being out in the woods but don't really do that anymore, don't know why.
16. I recently developed an affinity for quality men's shoes, namely Allen Edmonds(2 pair and hopefully counting).
17. I haven't been in a relationship in over 17 years.
18. I've allegedly driven over 165 mph on public roads, allegedly, didn't really happen, wouldn't condone it if it had happened.
19. I plan on going over 200 mph one day, legally, at one of several events like The Texas Mile.

21. I consider New Orleans to be one of my favorite places to visit, even though recently I discovered how bad the whole state smells when you are sober.
22. I was sitting in a bar one time with a friend and said "I'm going to get myself a nice watch to wear, not a Rolex or anything." I got a Rolex.
23. I made more money from the time I was 21 until 34 than the average American makes in a lifetime(not much more) and I have virtually nothing to show for it. Might be some lessons above to learn about that.
24. I enjoyed being part of a service based business and giving people a good experience, I plan on returning to a business like that in the near future, maybe go home to the restaurant business.
25. I like snazzy shoes, but I'm so hard to fit that I don't get to buy the really good looking ones.
26. I just had a suit made for interviewing by the same guy that makes all of Greg McElroy's suits that you see on ESPN and the SEC network.
27. I met Greg at that shop when I was being measured and he was picking some new ones up. I got a picture with him too which I thought was cool.

29. I don't like it when people ask me how much I paid for something, I think it's inappropriate.

I agree, starting about half way through I had to really dig back to some things I hadn't thought about in quite a minute. In fact I almost made #30 "I'm not an interesting enough person to come up with 30 random facts about myself."

1 When I was a kid I fell asleep by counting sheep (I learned it from Bert and Ernie).
2. I hate the sound of birds chirping and don't want to get out of bed in the morning if I hear them. - my dad shot innocent birds in our back yard when I was little.
3. I hate to see a turtle in the middle of the road and not be able to save it.
4. I can't stand the thought of a hook on a worm or any other living thing and wish people would stop fishing.
5. When I'm depressed I can stay in bed all day with my eyes closed without sleeping.
6. I've tried to give a turtle a massage to see if it purred - I wasn't able to tell whether or not she liked it.
7. I wish I could think of good come backs to mean comments at the time I need them.

Evening, I know I had to dig deep to come up with 30 things. Might be weird, but I did learn about myself doing this.

Ripose, I'm not sure that there's a difference between first came to mind and important.

01. I thought it was my fault we had worst ice storm in history a week after I was born.

02. I got beaten so bad when I was a toddler that I dissociated and watched it from the corner of the room.

04. I was raped and sodomized by an older brother when I was 3 years old and I still have a double scar under my bottom lip where he slammed my face into either the tub, toilet or sink and my teeth broke through the skin ... It happened in the bathroom.

05. My sister almost cut my little finger completely off by yanking a knife out of my hand when we were toddlers.

06. My mother slammed me head first into a coffee table when I was 4 years old and I had to get four stitches.

07. My mother sexually abused me from the time I was 3 years old until I turned 18 years old.

08. My older brother(s) set fire crackers off on a yellow jackets nest when I was a toddler and I got stung so badly I had to be put in the hospital.

09. My mother would have my pets put to sleep then torment me about it while beating me.

10. I often ate dry dog food out of the pantry because I didn't get fed regularly or properly and was often hungry.

11. I'd get beaten when caught eating the dried dog food.

12. My older siblings liked to tease and torment me when I was being punished and then I'd get beaten again for lashing out at them in anguish.

13. My parents had friends in the medical profession who'd cover up their abuses of me by patching me up, sending me back home and keeping quite about it.

14. I found it easier to get beaten than to endure the verbal and emotional abuse.

15. The verbal and emotional abuse is proving harder to overcome than the sexual and physical abuse.

Okay ... I've got to stop now ... I know there've got to be some good memories in here somewhere ... I'll try to find them and post them ... Otherwise I'm going to feel my whole life has been a total loss.

Good gosh, I couldn't begin to think of 30 things about myself. How boring is that!
