Well how useful and considerate of Princess!
I had a cat do the opposite: brought one in, dropped it, chased it a while til she trapped it in the unused gas fireplace....when it stayed very very still, the cat got bored and stretched, yawned, and walked away! For 2 weeks that mouse played hide and seek with us. Love our kitties! |

Echoes,
Aren't a kitties great! I found Princess at a pet groomers. The groomers sister had found her. She had been boarded up in a house to die, but her sister heard her crying. According to the sister, her owners had taken her litter of kitties, and left her there to die. Princess has done an excellent job of mothering several other kitties we have brought into our family. We have even seen her licking the last "puppy" we rescued. EJ |

My cat loves potato chips, doritos, cheetos, anything saltie. Once my girls left a big bowl of cheetos out and my cat licked them all until they were a sodden mass. when they dried, it was like one big giant cheeto. It was gross, but made him happy. My other cat only eats cat food of scraps of meat or fish. Boring! He needs to take a walk on the wild side.

EJ711 said: Hi Juliana, You tell great cat stories!! Hank sounds like a keeper. Wow, I never heard of a cat catching a sea gull. You must have lived by the water. I always lived on the East Coast, until I moved to the Midwest going on 10 years ago. I really do miss the ocean. EJ

Thanks EJ. Hank is a keeper. I don't know what I would do without him. I grew up near the ocean and I still live near the ocean. I can't imagine ever living away from the coast. Interesting thing about seagulls. When I was in high school, I went on a trip to the Northwest Territories -- to a town called Pine Point. (It's gone now. It was a mining town and was levelled when the mine closed down.) Anyway, it was north of Alberta -- very flat and dry and SO far from the ocean. Most of the people in the town had never seen the ocean in their lives. So, I was shocked when I saw SEAGULLS there. I thought they were only in coastal areas... because they're called SEAgulls, right? But it turns out they can live just about anywhere where there's food for them to scavenge. My dad used to be a marine engineer and spent a lot of time at sea. He told me that once you get about 10 miles offshore, you stop seeing seagulls. They like to stay close to or ON land. Interesting, huh? Okay, I went way off on a tangent there. LOL. I do that a lot. ![]()

My mom's siamese cat LOVED of all bizarre things Doritos (open a bag, she'd be at your feet meowing... open a bag of potato chips, she wouldn't budge!) and cantalope. The cantalope... that was probably her favorite... she'd nip at ankles if you didn't share!

My medium-sized St. Bernard, Baby Girl, stole the can of tuna fish off the counter tonight. Her "sister", the last Saint in, had misbehaved, and I put her outside on the front porch. While I was outside with Missy, Baby Girl stole the opened can of tuna right off the counter. I couldn't imagine what happened to it, so I called my husband. He went off toward the living room, and sure enough found the empty can on the floor!

Juliana,
I knew seagulls are scavengers, but I always enjoy hearing stories and learning new things. Thank you for sharing. EJ |

My childhood dog, Rimsky, SMELLED like Doritos. She ate a very healthy diet, we gave her baths in odour-reducing shampoos from the vet, she took long swims in the ocean in the summer, but NOTHING would get rid of the Dorito smell. She was an incredibly friendly, affectionate dog. She wanted to be cuddled all the time (even though she was big -- a Lab/English Setter mix). I would always have to wash my hands after I touched her because they would reek of Doritos... and she would actually look embarrassed and ashamed when I washed my hands.

How's this for weird- my cat LOVES corn-on-the-cob!!! She jumps up and steals the eaten cobs from our plates almost before we leave the table!!!
My previous cats liked cheese (great for diguising tablets in) and chocolate. The wild cats that used to live in the bush beside my parent's house would eat all our left-over porridge... Some cats have VERY unusual tastes eh?!

This gives them all the nutrients they need and is very healthful. I think I remembered that right! I remember in this cat book it said that is not a bad reducing diet for people either. ![]()
