Hi All,

My cat likes potato chips. What do your cats like?

My husband came down to the kitchen in the middle of the night, and found Princess, our cat eating potato chips. She had put a slit in the bag, and had pulled out two chips, one of which she was happily munching on.

The last time we had pizza, Baby Girl, one of our St. Bernards pulled the box, which still contained warm pizza onto the kitchen floor. By the time I got out there, Princess, the cat, was on top of it, like it was something she killed!

Looking forward to reading your funny pet story.

EJ

I use to have a cat who liked canned mushrooms. My two now were raised on only dry cat food and that's all they'll eat pretty much. My regular tabby though is getting a bit of a taste for wet occasionally (once ever other day) but doesn't eat it all, mostly just licks the sauce. I'm not sure his teeth are all right so don't know that he likes the crunchies. My husband trained them both to whipped cream when he was making sundaes but they don't even like it anymore (weird). My Maine Coon mix has a delicate stomach or something and throws up if she eats most "people" food. She use to love fresh fish (cooked :-) but has thrown up enough she won't try it anymore.

nice topic.
you would`t believe what`s going on in our house!
first-we are 3 in the family mom dad and i. adn once somehow we found an old dog and wanted to return it to it`s place but it`s....owners? (is it the right word) didn`t want it. they threw it away becasue it was too old.

we already had 2 female dogs, and one of them had 5 puppies... so then we had 8. what a family.

8 dogs and 3 hunamns!

now we have 3 dogs. that old one died and that female who had puppies as well. BUT her daughter had 1 puppy and we found another dog. female. a big one.

so now we have 3 again. (the puppies we gave to other people, of course)
the yongest-male, loves to hang on the laoundry. on it`s teeth. and going back adn forth.
it also loves drinking cleaners, one poizoning wasn`t enough for him.

No matter what it is that we're eating our cat Russia sits and stares at us.

She LOVES milk, and knows that cereal has milk in it... so you're NEVER alone at the breakfast table. My boyfriend spilled some milk and instead of cleaning it up he picked her up and set her on the counter to lick it up. He came back to the bedroom and said... I LOVE having a cat, whenever you spill milk you don't have to clean it up!

One night I was having chocolate ice cream and she saw the bowl and spoon & got really excited and climbed up on my lap. She looked in the bowl and seemed really confused "where's the milk?".

I also feed her little scraps of turkey from my sandwiches so she gets excited whenever we bring home Subway.

She also gets especially close whenever we have pizza, she gets in your face and sniffs the box a ton! I'm sure she'd love the pepperoni or sausage, but I don't want to feed her anything that's too processed.

I'm really paranoid about letting my cats eat people food - there are so many things that are fine for people but really toxic for cats. I keep a list next to the refrigerator in case they get into anything (they'll steal food any chance they get).

But, my boy cat Penguis LOVES papaya, either fresh or dried. Julie, his sister, loves vanilla ice cream. One of them stole a waffle the other day - found the remains of it in the living room, and I caught Penguis eating my husband's half-eaten granola bar (which got taken away promptly b/c it had raisins in it, which are toxic to cats).

I agree LMO... If animals like cats and dogs who are smaller especially.. get too much fat in their diet.. they get really sick. My cat Jorgie died of pancreatitis. Caused from too much fat in his diet. Which I fed him cat food. But again you have to be careful of what and how much. I had never been a cat owner before him in my life. I feel badly that he died because of something I did to him.

My dog Heidi this past November.. on her birthday which was Thanksgiving.. got deathly sick also. My dad was feeding her from the table alllllllllllllllllll day long.. I hadnt notice because I was so busy doing stuff before and after meals. Had I known.. I would have asked him to stop it. We almost lost this little thing.. who means the world to us.

Please dont make the mistakes we made with our pets. Get and keep them on a proper diet meant for their body chemistry.

Thanks
Bethy

Mollye the cat likes raw hamburger...when you cook it she loses interest in it. She also likes cheese but only the shredded kind not the american slices. We think she listened to the vet when he told my mom she could eat whenever she wants because she has a blood disorder and it makes her anemic so she's supposed to have kitten food and as much and whenever she wants to. So we think she just heard whenever and however much. LOL

Chessie cat likes american cheese and milk. Whenever you get into the fridge and she sees you get out the milk carton she begs and begs until you give her some. Little whiner she is. LOL

Charley our old cat liked cooked frozen peas.

LOL. My cat likes potato chips too. He also gets SO excited when he smells McDonald's french fries. I know they're not good for him (or me), but he loves them so much, I always give him 1 or 2. The weird thing is, he's not interested in any other french fries. Give him a Burger King fry, and he'll turn up his nose and walk away.

He also has a strong aversion to lavender. I'm wondering if anyone else has noticed this in their cat. Whenever I'm taking a bubble bath, he always comes into the bathroom, and stands up at the side of the tub, peeks over the edge and bats the bubbles with his paw. If I'm using lavender bubble bath, though, he'll peek up over the side of the tub, look disgusted, jump back, and walk backwards out of the bathroom. LOL. My mum brought me a birthday present the other day. It was sitting in the gift bag, unopened, on the living room floor for most of the time she was here. My cat went over to it, sniffing out of curiosity and then arched his back and hissed and backed away from it. When I opened it, I found out why -- there was lavender soap wrapped up inside.

When I was a kid I had a dog who loved pancakes and corn. She hated peas, though. There was a beef stew dog food we used to give her and it had peas in it. She was a big dog and would gulp it down so quickly, but somehow she would manage to leave just the peas -- perfectly clean -- in the bottom of the bowl.

I guess cat food is a high protein mix of almost anything.
What a person could do is research what the content may include. But some pet food has been recalled, so watch little
Rintin, find out he/she is getting the proper dindin. what we put in our bodies is just as important. things like fast food
is the same thing, no value, just filling. yo. My cat likes potato chips...

My Max (below) is a curious cat.

When I cook he is right there with me.. It was months after I brought him home from the shelter before he discovered the delights of the kitchen. Now he peers into the fridge with me and has even stepped right inside. The other day when I hadn't seen him for a while and couldn't find him in my tiny apartment, the fridge was one of the places I looked!! (He came sleepy-eyed out of the closet I had opened and shut earlier).

When I was making soup recently, something I do most weekends, he was there beside me, on his hind legs reaching toward the counter (he doesn't know yet he can jump onto the countertop... shhhhh!). I was slicing carrots for the soup and I looked down at him and said "Max, if you liked carrots I'd be happy to give you one but last time you ignored it after I gave it to you". A few minutes later when I was transferring the carrots to the soup pot, one slice fell onto the floor and Max picked it up and ran off with it! I followed shortly after and as I walked into the living room, I heard a crunching and there he was eating his carrot. It was as if to prove a point that day, as he never has eaten one since!

His loves are corn and .. .grape stems. When I eat grapes he will steal the whole bunch if I'm not watching carefully. So, to accomodate him, I pull the grapes off the stem, lay the stem on top of the bowl, and let him creep up and slowly 'steal' the stem then run off. He will play with it, tossing it up in the air, carrying it to the bare floor where he can bat it around better... I never know where or in how many pieces I will find it later.

He also loves ice cream--vanilla only please.

He is a fun and funny cat.

Sweet Sunshine,

All my pets receive proper nutrition.

Princess slit the potato chip bag to get some chips.

Hi All,

I have another little anecdote about my cat Princess, who I found out last week likes potato chips.

This morning she shot like lightning from one end of the kitchen to the other to pounce on a mouse. The mouse had made a poorly timed entrance into the kitchen from behind the dishwasher.

Princess bee-lined for the door with the mouse in her mouth and quickly took it outside. She has been looking extremely proud of herself all day, like, "There will be no mice in my house!"

LOL. Cute story. My cat, Hank, did the opposite. He brought me a mouse from OUTSIDE... his idea of a gift I guess. My cat likes potato chips... He ran in through the open kitchen door with it in his mouth (it was still alive) and when I screamed, he dropped it and ran back outside and the mouse ran under the cupboard. Fortunately, my neighbour and I managed to get it in a shoebox and release it outside. The little guy didn't seem to be hurt. Hank doesn't seem to want to kill mice; he just wants to catch them and bat them around a bit.

The cat I had when I was a kid, Pussywillow, one day brought my mother a half-dead seagull. He dropped it at her feet on the patio. He seemed very proud of himself. Mum was not quite so pleased. My cat likes potato chips...

Really? I wonder what it is about McDonald's french fries in particular that gets them so excited. Hank is usually pretty well-behaved, but he tries to jump up on the table and steal McDonald's french fries. He stares at us the whole time we're eating too -- just waiting for us to accidentally drop one.

Hi Juliana,

You tell great cat stories!!

Hank sounds like a keeper. Wow, I never heard of a cat catching a sea gull. You must have lived by the water.

I always lived on the East Coast, until I moved to the Midwest going on 10 years ago. I really do miss the ocean.

My cat goes bananas for people tuna. He would do carwheels if I asked him to... but what's so strange about that. He's a cat, right?

Amber, on the other hand turns the house upside down if she doesn't get at least a quarter of the onion I'll be chopping! It's gotta be raw! She'll eat most veggies, too, raw or cooked. She'll lick me to death until I share my yogurt with her. She especially like the kind with fruit at the bottom. The other day, she snitched an orange from a neighbor's tree. My cat likes potato chips... The only thing she turns her nose up at is tomato. LOL

Don't let her have anything that's greasy or I'll have messes to clean up for a couple of days. YUCK!
