We had three hens which we have brought up from chicks that are our pets.

I went out this morning to get the laptop fixed and when we came back there was only one hen left.

I've checked everywhere, up and down the lanes, no feathers anywhere and I'm thinking someone must have stolen them.

My children are so upset, how could anyone do this? Someone stole my hens!

Thanks ((((((( Fuzzybear ))))))) and (((((((( Sabau )))))))))

The children are distraught.

We are going to try and get some more, but that is beside the point. These hens were our pets and we loved them. They would come in the kitchen and keep me company.

I guess someone has stolen them to eat for dinner. Ugh! Someone stole my hens!

Oh dear hon...you don't know that. It's possible they took them for their own pets as I'm sure they could see they were friendly.

Someone stole my hens!

Maybe, I'm thinking the worst. I've checked absolutely everywhere. Birds are flock animals so the other one would have gone too, if they had just wandered off.

Hubby has just made a brand new chicken house for them too.

Oh! I'm worried to leave the house now incase anyone steals anything else.

I'm so sorry this happened to you, Pegasus! Since you saw no feathers, then are you certain some predator didn't get them? That would be my first suspicion. My daughter lived next to some Mexican migrants in Louisville (very nice fellas) who had chickens in the back yard. Her jack russell got in there and killed one of them...

(((((((((((((((Pegasus & family)))))))))))))))

How come people are so mean. I just don't understand. What were they thinking.

Even if you can replace them, it just won't be the same. How cruel.

So sorry for loss of your extended family members.

No evidence of them being got by a predator, and in the daylight too when I had popped out for an hour, seems more likely that someone has stolen them. They were both very pretty and super friendly, wouldn't have taken much for someone to pick them up.

Someone stole my hens!

I'm so sorry your hens were stolen. People can be very cruel. What kind were they? I had a pet hen when I was little. I used to carry her tucked into my arm and she would cluck and sound almost like a purring kitten.

I hope you and your children like the new chicks and that they turn out just fine.

Hugs,

Jan

I don't know what kind they were, but they were both very pretty and about to start laying eggs.

Daughter has just rung to say she has bought three beautiful hens about the same age as the one we have left. The children are so excited now!

Pegasus, I'm so sorry that someone was so callous as to steal your pets.
I had a pet hen once. We had a school project where we had to build an incubator. If the egg hatched, we got to keep the chick. This chick thought she was human. It was a fight to get her to go with the other hens at night. If you weren't paying her enough attention, she'd run up and start pecking your toes. Unfortunately, a fox got her.
I know the new hens won't replace the others, but I hope they bring you and your family joy.

Well, my eldest daughter came home with three lovely hens, a little white one, a brown one with beautiful eyes and a great big fat one! They settled in pretty quick.

I had told a neighbour about the two missing hens and she said she would keep an eye out for them, but I had lost hope.

Anyway, it was getting dark and suddenly a brown hen came racing past me straight to the chicken house! My neighbour said it had followed her down the road!

So, they were'nt stolen afterall, but had probably got scared and ran off.

We are still missing one hen which we think is probably hiding in some hay bales in the field next door.

I started off with three hens, then one, now I've got five, possibly six tomorrow! Someone stole my hens!

This is a great story! The "wayward" chickens! Do you have any pictures of them in the gallery? Please take pics of your hen family!

No photos at the moment but I'll certainly do that when we have time!

Me and hubby went out several times last night with torches in the dark searching for the lost hen, and hubby was up at 6am looking for her. I fear that she has probably been gotten by a fox by now.

The one that returned yesterday looks extra proud of herself today, kind of like, 'Yeah, I really know about the outside world now!'

The new hens are settling in and we even found an egg this morning! What will I do with all the eggs?

Thanks for caring.

Ha ha, years a go someone gave us a beautiful white chick, and we noticed it liked jumping on top of the shed and then one morning at 4.00am it certainly let us know that it was a male! Cocka-doodle-doo!

Peg~ We used to raise chickens too. Some were laying hens and some were uhmmm I hate saying it.. eatin chickens. I love chicken.. I just didnt want to be a part of their .... well you know. When my husband and his famdamily did this .. I'd try to have an excuse not to be there. Finally they got the drift that I couldnt handle the whole thing. Of course his grandma had to tell me her view on that.. and I never heard the end of it. UGH I didnt like her at all!!!!

I am sorry didnt mean to highjack your thread here.. But this farm girl knows about the lost chickens and oinkers too. They used to get loose once in awhile .. that wasnt good at all Someone stole my hens! Especially being on a busy road EEEEKS!!! Someone stole my hens!

Glad the one came back for ya... and I hope you can find the other one too!!! Wonder if there are chicken hearders like there are sheep hearders? hmmmmm Might need to ask Muffy about that one lol Someone stole my hens! Someone stole my hens! Someone stole my hens!
