Enquiring minds want to know.

I had a big lunch so I informed my husband he was making himself a meatloaf sandwich with the leftover meatloaf from night-before-last. But, now I'm hungry and am thinking I want popcorn and an Olde Philadelphia Root Beer Soda!

Mama, had to look where you were from having a "New England Boiled Dinner" like that :-) My stepmother would make that when I was coming up and I didn't like boiled cabbage (she'd make it all in one pot) but had to eat my 1/6th portion anyway (or maybe 1/5th, bet my Dad didn't like it either and she wouldn't make him eat it LOL). But having to eat it I got so I can tolerate it okay. But sauerkraut I can only eat with apples and pork chops.

leftovers of crawfish pie and crab cakes. Crab cakes are good, but a little to many pieces of shell in it.

Nothemama8,

First I have not heard anyone other that my family serve boiled dinner. You'll have to pm me the recipe, my husband would love it! I haven't eaten it in almost 30 years. (I never did eat the cabbage part, cooked cabbage ick, but it gave the soup an excellent flavor)!

Hubby made chicken and wild Rice. That is our go-to quick meal.

I had leftover shepards pie.

Last night I browned hamburger, shredded 2 carrots, diced a red pepper and a red onion tossed that together and topped it with garlic mashed potatoes and topped that with cheese and baked it at 350 for 30 minutes.

Very yummy.

(((((Angie))))), that sounds a lot like a dinner our mother used to make, but with corned beef rather than ham.

She used to cook it in a pressure cooker, corned beef & potatoes & carrots & yucky cabbage too. We didn't mind it, except for the yucky cabbage.

Does this sound like a variation of the New England boiled dinner ? We did have great grandparents from USA, but no idea where.

Oh, Perna, one of my favorites. I've never found anyone else who likes sausage and squash. How do you fix it?

i have londong broil to fix, but I think I might fix french bread with olive oil, steamed spinach with garlive, and paremesean cheese. Kind of a snack/meal for me.

I have mild bulk sausage and I just mix it up with bread crumbs, etc. like I would ground beef (which one can use instead) like I would for meatloaf. Then I just stick it in (Dinner. Who's fixing it and what are you eating? technical term "stick it in") the cleaned out squash halves after cutting a little slice off the "bottom" of each half to make them flat so they won't fall over in the pan. Little water in the pan and maybe a temporary aluminum foil tent and roast away? I don't know; it's a make it up as you go along thing and I haven't made it in years LOL.

Dinner. Who's fixing it and what are you eating? at the 'technical term'!

I just stick Dinner. Who's fixing it and what are you eating? 2 sausage links and some butter in and bake it. I love the combination of the 2 flavors.

i add 1/4" of water to the pan, cover with foil. I like to take the foil off the last 10-15 minutes.

Squash of any kind is so good!

Thanks Perna Dinner. Who's fixing it and what are you eating?
