Today I was thinking about my college experience and how I can't believe that I got through statistics, let alone experimental psychology. It was easily one of the most difficult things I've ever done. The human brain is capable of so much. Blows my mind.

That's great. I've struggled with weight my whole life. I've gotten rid of some & the pounds keep coming back. They like me so much, lol. I understand the effort & determination it takes. Keep at it.

I’m proud of my hobby that I love. My hobby is 3D printing and I spend a lot of time on it.I also want to create my own YouTube channel about 3D printing. But for the last six months I've been putting it off because there were a lot of problems besides. But maybe this summer I will do it. I still want to buy a new 3D printer, a more professional one, and a good camera to shoot video. It certainly takes a lot of money, but I hope mr bet 10 euro will help me with that. So maybe someday I will become a famous blogger)

I'm proud of my self control.

I don't get a lot of credit for the intelligent things I say, or the selfless things I do. And the temptation is to blow up and start hollering and letting people know how rotten it feels to be taken for granted. But I don't do that. I try and remember to stay calm & collected, and try to see things through their eyes---they're distracted, anxious about other things, or they are simply not on the same page as me right now. They don't MEAN to be neglectful---they're just somewhere else, in their heads.

My self control extends to the food cravings department, as well. With my multiple ailments, I need to watch what I eat very closely, and not give in to impulsive behaviours. I am proud of what I've been able to re-train myself to eat, and to stick with it.

And lastly, I have good self-control when it comes to my goal-setting and work habits. I really try and finish the lists of manageable goals I set for myself now, every day.
I keep distractions to a minimum, and stick to the plan AsMuchAsPossible, as often as humanly possible. This is my biggest accomplishment thus far in my living with Major Depression and GAD (along with everything else), I feel.

Perhaps no one else will ever grasp what we battle everyday. But I certainly do. And that's enough for me right now.

I'm proud of the fact that in spite of everything that's going on in my head, I managed to have a decent (if truncated) career in the field that I chose for myself. And I'm very, very proud of my son.

Surviving.

In 1983 I was the only woman to graduate with honors when I got my engineering degree. Actually, I was also the only woman in the school, period.

I didn't break the glass ceiling, I C4'd it.

I have a very challenging job and I am good at it. I worked in some rough circumstances where people quit in the middle of the day. Not me.

Sure thing.

The original job was teaching English classes (in person and then via Zoom during the pandemic) at Memorial Assistance Ministries: Memorial Assistance Ministries (MAM) Houston

But they decided not to have classes on weekends anymore, so now I am mentoring a high school student (again on Zoom) with Minds Matter: Minds Matter Houston

I am also part of the LGTBQ community so I help facilitate support groups for teens in that community through The Montrose Center: the Montrose Center: Houston's Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer (LGBTQ) center!
These are also on Zoom right now.

And I recently became a NAMI peer support group facilitator, so I do zoom groups for NAMI Greater Houston: NAMI Greater Houston - 501 (c)(3) Nonprofit - You are not alone!

But every large city has tons of volunteer opportunities. I needed to do something on weekends or I would just sleep all day (no family). I found Minds Matter through Volunteer Match: VolunteerMatch - Where Volunteering Begins

I'm proud of myself for learning how to give insulin injections to my precious cat, Sidney. I have also learned how to test her blood glucose, which means I use a tiny needle to get blood from the tip of her ear and use a little meter to test her glucose level.

Wow, that would be hard to do on a cat! I don't know if I could do that to mine. He is good at the vet, but doesn't let me clip his nails.

Wow, you are doing some terrific things! I was a NAMI Connections group facilitator for over a year, then covid hit. I'm hoping to get back to volunteering with NAMI when we meet in person again.

I prefer the Zoom groups actually. It's hard to get around in Houston for people who don't have a car, so I think we reach more people with Zoom.

The hardest part is having to poke her...she seems to know that what we're doing is necessary, but it's still hard for me. She's such an intelligent, well-grounded cat...makes the whole thing a lot easier for me.
