I tripped over something in front of the barn yesterday. Didn't realize I'd tripped or fell until I face planted in the dirt.

Nothing broken. No injuries, but man alive do I hurt! I stopped riding out of fear of taking a serious fall. Never thought I'd take a tumble just walking along!

Oh Liz, I'm sorry you fell, that sounds awful. Look after yourself.

I'm so sorry, @lizardlady...

Falling is my biggest fear!

I'm glad nothing's cracked or broken!

The pain part sucks...

Sometimes when it gets activated, it doesn't know when to deactivate itself!

I hope that it's short-lived and you're feeling better soon!

I am probably the most graceful klutz ever (lol....giving credit to my years of ballroom dance lessons). When I lived in Calif & was doing night feeding at the ranch, I was always tripping ovef railroad ties in the parking area in the dark.

I think my most graceful trip was in my home here in Ky. I got hungry at 3am so went downstairs to get a snack. Came around the corner into my entry hall & tripped over a box I knew was there. Did a belly flop on my new plush entry rug I had just bought & managed to keep the food on my plate. I was laughing so hard at myself I had a hard time getting up. No damage but yes, the next day there were places in my body that hurt.

Yea, even at 72 I haven't given up riding but now just do trails using friends safe gaited horses. I do hold my breath on some of the steep rocky trails though. Most of my real injuries have come from racquetball or horses.....so I do understand

Am a bit more sore today than yesterday. Second day is always worse.

Falling is my fear too. I worry about breaking something.

I fall a lot too and am afraid of hurting myself seriously from it. I have osteopenia, so falls are especially scary. I have fallen multiple times jogging and walking outside. This past year I even chipped a tooth falling! I often end up with scrapes on my knees. One fall jogging I micro-fractured my hips all over; that was extremely painful. My last fall was last month. We had all our pipes replaced since they were rusting through (cast iron pipes, house built in the '60s). It was a multiple day job, and the workers left a pile of dirt in the driveway overnight. I was taking out the trash, not really looking at the drive, had forgotten the dirt and like you said, BOOM! I sprained my left wrist (thankfully I am right handed) and that has only just finally healed.

I hope you are not too sore

Eskie, I would love to still ride, but.... bought my horse from a dealer so I don't really know what kind of training he has. He can be a bit of a butthead sometimes. He used to belong to a girl with developmental delays. Based on some of the things he does I suspect if he pulled something with her she got off. Biggest obstacle is that I'm by myself out here in the boonies. If something happened to me I could lay there for days before anyone found me. Like Blueberrybook, I also have osteopenia. I have a legit fear of breaking something.

Oh, I definitely understand. One reason I never rode Izzy after I finally got her here. 17.3 hands & alone, I didn't figure it was safe even though she was well trained & only allowed her to be ridden by excelent riders while she was in Calif. I have had major breaks coming off horses from a fractured hip to a compression fracture of my lower back & living alone like you, I can't afford any major injuries at my age. Only reason I still trail ride is that my friend has a wonderful bomb proof gaited horse & the few times he tested me he found out it didn't work & all has gone smoothly since then. Not sure I would want to go back to dressage at this point or even buy a horse again though a cute donkey may be a future consideration if I get fencing done around the fields. So much higher priority repairs need done to the house right now it puts everything else on the back burner & injuries are not allowed. I have been dealing with asthma this last month (first time in 21 years) & it has really messed with my energy. I don't have time or energy for injuries. Lol....but trippin over my crazy 70 lb Aussie who lays in the middle of my kitchen floor is always a challenge too....& he gets so insulted if I accidentally step on him & will get up & jump on me for doing it.
