No one is late posting... I'm still suffering such grief.

I had called my T when I made the vet appt...and again while at the vet's after the decision to euthanaze him was made... and T called me back each time. I called and left a message after he was gone... and then after I was home a few hours and totally fell apart, T called me back even though he was out to dinner with friends... and we talked for nearly 15 minutes.

I saw T today... and my PT (physical therapist) and the girls at the PT office hugged and cried with me... you see everyone knew Figaro, he travelled with me all the time not that long ago... and most knew him from when I first got him, too.

I thought about the Pet Loss Grief hotlines... I think my call would be to the minister on duty at my church, and make him dig for those Scriptures I need about Pets going to heaven. I need your support. : (

Sky,

I like what Rio said, "Take all the time that you need."

Americans are notorious for rushing grief.

I think your grief is magnified by the fact that he came to you at a time when you needed him so much. It's like you have lost an underpinning from a critical time in your life. Our fuzzy friends are just so selfless and easy to love.

I'm sorry you've lost such a brave, true and noble companion.

((((((((((((((((((((Sky)))))))))))))))))))))

Big hugs,

EJ

Don't remember where or from whom, but I've heard that some have been escorted into the next life by a beloved pet or two.

Thank you all for your support.

I am just "being"... I go numb and then break down in sobs again.

I tried to find the All Dogs Go to Heaven on On Demand but they only had All Dogs Christmas Carol. Since I did nothing about Christmas, I thought I'd try it...totally forgetting the parody of the dog with the hurt leg I need your support. : ( I can't get away from his memories... I need your support. : (

I rarely go out the front door, but the puppy is impossible out back with the neighbor's dog always out... and there was my Figaro's footprints in the paint...

And the door mat outside is a profile of a black labrador retriever.. I need your support. : (

T says no decisions to be made during this time... so while Iwant to get rid of everything that jerks my memory like this, I won't ...

of course, I washed Figaro's blanket bed and it's on my chair...

O sky I just saw this. I really ache for you. As an owner of two little dogs I can't even imagine what you are going through. Be gentle with yourself and remember that physically gone is not gone from your heart. That will always be there for you. I need your support. : ( I need your support. : (

When you're ready, think about getting The Dog Whisperer's CD.

Also, have you tried to keep puppy close to you with treats? Maybe he wasn't "humanised" in his former home. Kept outside all the time, maybe?

Don't want to be the one that goes against what your T says because I know how you depend on him, but... if your heart and mind tell you to put away things that remind you so much of Fig, maybe it's time to start... slowly.

The blanket was a good idea. Too bad it doesn't get cold where you are. It would be good to wrap yourself up in that blanket. You could always turn up the AC! I need your support. : (

No no I can't be walking the dog, that's why I have a fenced yard I need your support. : ( Figaro didn't give me any trouble with the neighbor's dog, but then, Figaro was grown before we moved here 7years ago. I need your support. : ( I can't compare the pup to Fig...not fair.. but it's a hassle I can't deal with not now, not continuing. It means another complaint against the neighbor, which results in bad things anyway.

Like what can anyone do to me now? I need your support. : ( I've lost my dog...

there's only one thing I think can hurt as much or more...

Sky

im sorry to hear you still feel as down. it searly days and you are bound to still feel upset at your loss, part of that will never go.

somehow you will learn to stop comparing your new puppy to Figaro, that comes with time too.

id suggest not to complain to your neighbour, the puppy will stop eventually, hes just being a typical puppy. its no ones fault.

and sky, what do you mean by "there's only one thing I think can hurt as much or more..."

let me know if you need me ok, or need anything at all. im here and always will be.

Allow yourself to cry! And do something to honour your dog's memory. I donated money to a humane society for animals in my dog's memory...among other things.

It's always hard to lose a pet I need your support. : (

My aunt was very much the same about her dog and now regrets that she gave some of his things away. In time, you'll be able to smile at the memories of your dog, even though they are bittersweet.

((((((((((( sky )))))))))))) Your dog was lucky to have somebody as caring as you to be his owner.

When you say that you are second guessing yourself, I know exactly what you mean. I've been through it a few times and felt exactly the same at first. What helps me the most is remembering that the first time, with my dog Barney, I waited too long, I let him suffer too long because I was the one who couldn't let go. I feel guilty to this day sometimes still.

When it came time with my next two pets, both cats, I knew that I had done everything medically possible for as long as possible for them but that letting them go was the best thing I could do for THEM, regardless of how much I loved them and would miss them. I remembered how I promised myself that after that first time, I would never let one of my pets suffer again.

You're not alone in this, as I can see by all the responses! Well, I'm bawling now!

big hugs, p.poo
