I heard a radio blurb about a recent study that showed that the most important entry in one's exercise journal was not the length or intensity of exercise, or what you ate, or how many calories you consumed. The most motivating entry is the reason you are going through the process.

So, with that in mind, let's list some reasons that we are trying to eat healthier, eat less, or are exercising. I'll start:

- to fit back into my jeans from last year
- to get my ab and back muscles into shape for baby delivery purposes (but no, I'm not pregnant yet)
- because I feel healthier and more confident when I exercise and eat well
....

- To fit into old jeans the way I used to, not stretching every fiber within a millimeter of it's life, if I can even get them on that is.
- To feel better. The heavier I am, the slower I feel.
- To not HAVE to wear a swimsuit that covers my stomach.
- Because there's high blood pressure and cholesterol in my family, and it's in part preventable.
- Because I've seen what not eating and exercising does to everyone else in the family with the same genes. Yikes!
- I want to develop good habits now, before I don't have a choice for medical reasons.

- To try and correct my metabolism which has been ruined by meds.
- To lose weight. A LOT of weight.
- To tone and firm up all the rolly saggy parts
- To hear my husband say something nice when he touches me
- To be able to let my husband make love to me without me covering up and refusing to put the lights on
- To be able to look at myself in the mirror without disgust
- To be thinner and fitter than all the shallow females in our circle of friends (they are shallow, sad but true)

I think that is long enough

Crying isn't a sign of weakness. It's a sign of having tried too hard to be strong for too long.

well. thats tough.
i know when i eat well i smoke less. and my doctor says if i take better care of myself my immune system will toughen up and i have a better chance of fighting cancer. and if i exercise i might stop comparing myself to all the hot women the man in my life spends all his time talking about and most likely comparing me to. . .
and i feel better when i eat well. i have more energy. i can go climbing. or running. or go to the self defense class i signed up for and never make it to.

Good idea LMo. I started my list about a year ago and it's close to two pages long now. I won't post it here, but your idea is a good one. List reasons we are trying to eat healthier/less and exercising Just wanted to let you know I have done it, even though I don't feel comfortable sharing.

To feel good about ME again - therefore - I am a better person for my family & friends.... for if I am HAPPY inside about being ME then I am a happier person to be around, to ENJOY life with.
