I received mr ssdi letter regarding my choice of in person hearing or video teleconference on Sept. 19. Upon my attorney's advice, I chose the video teleconference to hellp speed the process along. The request for in person hearing statement was due Oct. 19. Any rough idea how long it should take between receiving that letter and the actual hearing date letter, and how long is the wait time between the hearing date letter and the actual hearing date?

Can't say for certain, but these agencies do have 'timeliness' deadlines. Perhaps a couple weeks from that date?

I was not given a choice as to type of hearing (in person only) but when I did hear, the date was several months after that. Perhaps yours will be sooner if by teleconference. It is not a speedy process nonetheless unfortunately. Wishing you all the best at it, good luck!

I received my in-person/teleconference letter about four weeks ago, but I know the backlog for a hearing is up to 11 months in NM. So that puts my hearing date roughly in May-June. It's so hard to wait! :-(

I do know that after my in person hearing that it took another 6 weeks to get the approval letter and then just over a month to receive my benefits. According to my "Attorney" this is pretty much the norm for my state.

I hope your process moves along very quickly

It's quicker that way, but I chose that option, also and got denied. My lawyer is appealing on the grounds that 3 key medical records were not considered in that decision. So either they'll overturn the judgement (right) or deny the appeal or grant me a new trial. Good luck & don't get in a hurry, you'll be disappointed.

I think my blood pressure and anxiety will take a nosedive upon just getting approved. Someone said that it will cripple me. I not looking at it as a way to help me. How? Perhaps as a back up plan. See, paranoia usually hits me tremendously as soon I start a job. It's like this. You start dying the day you're born. Employers start looking to can you the minute you start, at least in my head, and nothing will ever change that way of thinking. So, I'm hoping with a back up plan, I may can be a little more at ease upon approaching new employment.

Wow. I see just how hard it is. Jobs are not plentiful at all. Employers have many applicants on file to choose from. They greatly have the upper hand, knowing they can get you to do anything and everything and for as cheap as possible because in my case, I've been out of work for a while. That within itself adds fuel to the paranoia which helps for nasty reactions to work related politics.
