I have been my bosses "go to" person for everything for 2 years. I am his assistant. We just started a new project and are very excited about the possible growth.
He was IMing my co-worker (we all have communicator at work). He has never IM'd me. I have no idea what they were talking about, but I am EXTREMELY jealous! We all get along very well and have a great work rapport. We laugh, have lunch together and just have a good time at work. Logically I know that he could have been asking her a personal question or something that I can't answer. BUT, because I don't know...I am jealous. This is causing me a lot of....I don't know the word, but it really upsets me. I should not be jealous....I shouldn't even care. I don't want to have these feelings, but I can't get rid of them. ![]()

Perhaps the boss is asking about a family member. Or something else not related to work. Good bosses take an interest in their employees' personal lives, especially their families or pets. Also, he/she could be asking about future leave time, something simple like that. Maybe you have such good communication with your boss that there is no need to use the IM application. It could be so many things. Definitely try to let it go. And try really hard not to ask about it. I know how tempting it would be for me. Can you sort of wipe it out of your mind? ![]()

![]() I am going to try to let it go. It's such a hard thing to let go of because I worry that they are talking about me or that they are conspiring something....ok, maybe there is some paranoia there, too. I think you are right, about them talking about something inconsequential. I am trying to imagine that they are planning a surprise party for me! ![]()

onlymedid, I think this says a lot about your feelings about your relationship with your boss and what that means to you, what those kinds of relationships mean to you.
This would be interesting to explore in therapy ![]() |

![]() Work can be a place that insecurities run WILD. I swear in many ways it is like high school! ![]() I have kinda the opposite problem. My boss has been accused of showing favortism to a couple of us because he has us on more projects then anyone else. He's been accused of it with me becuase he has put me on commitees and I've been included in meetings where every other attendee has been a higher level than I. He isn't really showing favortism as such. He is really good at knowing our strengths and playing them up. ![]() Could it be your boss is concerned about relying too much on you? Could he be worried he asks too much and gives you too much to do? Think of it this way (I am), he values you so much, he doesn't want to burn you out! ![]()

People have been jealous of me in the past because (we work in a call center) I hadn't been on the phones for a long time because I was doing reports and other things for the boss man. Not a problem now because I am going to be back on the phones on Monday. Yes, my boss always plays up our strengths and even has us believing things we know to be false...he is a very good salesman. ![]() I know he worries about putting too much on my shoulders, so that is very likely. I guess I just never thought of it that way, really. He is pretty awesome. I guess I shouldn't be too jealous. Thanks! ![]()

onlymedid, you work with me?!?!?!?
(I also work in a call center)... It can be a tough enviroment to work in. Luckily, the industry I am in changes enough that it is always interesting and challanging, so my ADHD is happy here. I am also glad I don't have to sell anything! LOL Hang in there! These things tend to go in cycles!
