I enjoy reading all these posts & the little things in life that we can all just sit back & enjoy. I think there might be one thing we all need to realize is that it is not always our past that should be the issue.....what we need to look at is what is it NOW that helps us get out of the focus on our problems. A daydream, a song, a walk, just allowing ourselves to take a break from what is bothering us. That may be able to help immediately so that hopefully we can find a longterm method that can redirect our thinking in a more permanent method. We are never going to get rid of our past...it is a part of us, but it isn't all we are. Finding out the other parts of us is a challenge & can help us look at ourselves in a way where we may be able to not take things too personally. Sometimes if we look for any humor in a situation, that can also take away some of the tension. What we need to do is find what works for us...& it doesn't just happen overnight but it can only happen when we are open to it.

Sarah, your post is a wonderful place to start us thinking.....I want to thank you very much,
Debbie

Thank you on back, Debbie! Mucho hugs to you.

I looked back at this thread to remind me, cause I am in need of reminders tonight. I am all scared and spooked by what I think someone else is saying.

So instead of challenging them and possibly getting into something uncomfortable, I can notice my reaction, and as you eloquently put it, Debbie...(I hope everyone reads what she wrote).........I could focus on something else! Something good, something fun! (Can I? Don't I have to freeze like a deer in headlights?) Mmm.......maybe I don't have to take it personal, maybe I can skip the indepth analysis etc, maybe I can just live and breathe and keep moving.

I'm going to put on some good music and dance.

Sarah

Sarah,

I hope your good music & dance helped. I understand the need to sometimes look back at our threads to remind us about the way we think at different times. Like you, I had a hard time last week & just couldn't escape the bad for days. I was afraid I was getting trapped back where I was a little while ago since the things that help me feel good just weren't working. Not only that but my phone line that provides my access to the internet had a short in it & was down for over a week (initially I thought it was my new computer that was the cause) so I had no link to the outside world. I think my desire to not feel that way must be getting strong enough, like you said , to just live , breathe, & keep moving again.

I appreciate your posts because they really help me add thoughts to my own that strengthen the good thinking & help strengthen my positive thoughts in order to focus on the good feelings in life.

Thank you so much for your postings,
Debie

attentionThis is an old thread. You probably should not post your reply to it, as the original poster is unlikely to see it.
