Unemployment wants a phone hearing with me on Tues. I can't not get unemployment. If I don't get it boy did I mess up my life! Funny thing is I feel better since leaving so I know it's the right thing for me. Please, everyone be sending positive energy my way. I can manage by liguidating my retirement to pay off debts, and getting a weekly check. Got a cold, worried about gifts. Son's birthday on Friday. Going to hang with him till cake and presents and then head to see daughter and spend some time down there with our friends and family.

I had a phone interview my last go-around with unemployment, and the judge ruled I should get unemployment.

I don't know about you, but I've gotten to the point that I'm too old to let an employer/boss abuse me. That happens -- I leave.

Thanks for the kind thoughts folks. I actually have had nightmares about it and yesterday bought my daqughter a gift that was ouch and I don't know when the next money is coming. My hubby gets paid on the 3oth. Nightmares are yucky lately. Yes, I am too old to be abused by a boss and that is a wshole other story. She wrote me a note this week that negated all of my feelings and experiences. She is good at that. But I responded and told her that we knew eachother to be fine people and exchanges such as hers were not helpful and if she wanted to write a positive personal note great and I wished us peace. It's that whole thing, let peace begin with me. It was time to leave that job. My computer system is down. It's a mess actually so I am hardwired in now and maybe can get it sorted out. Too many players in this field using the computers at home.

Petunia, that tickled me nicely, thanks. Boy was my spelling awful this morning. Computers all back up and running. Unexpected problems with scanners though due to Mac changing their serial ports and everything is usb. I actually like playing around with this stuff.

You know you've got my best thoughts! I received a letter from unemployment after I "certified" in my call to Tele-Serve that I was denied benefits after my last job. It was sent with my Tele-serve confirmation sheet--it was not the letter with the official reason, so I waited to received the official notice in the mail. Well in a week I got it--and it said that I was *approved* for benefits! Somewhere, something happened and the decision was overturned. It said that I would be paid for the weeks I certified and each week therafter, and I should expect the first check within THREE WEEKS! (Hey, Government, I need money NOW!) I should have received my first check over a week ago, dang it! I hope it comes soon--very soon. Anyway, I hope you don't have the anguish I went through and yours comes out okay, right away.

Update. My unemployment "Hearing" consisted of a woman calling me and asking when my last day of work was and what my vacation pay was. Well, the office changed my last day of work to my benefit so that they would pay my portion of the Health Insurance for the month. Instead of working through Tuesday the 29th of Dec My last day of work was Dec 2. A Friday. That way I pd the family portion which is mighty high. I am paying it untill daughter is released from in-patient program. She asked me how many vacation hours I was paid for and I said UHHHH, that's why I send my pay stub in cause I didn't understand it. The answer was 54 hours. So in my mind I should be eligible for benefits beginning 6 hours into the work day on13th. I hope it is all straightened out. I be broke and need some cash. And I will relax more when it's said and done.

Does unemployment only kick in if a person is let go from a position? Or can it also be used in the case like mine where I have been on a 3-months short term disablity leave from work but feel not a bit better regardless of all the meds I'm taking than I did at first. I can't even imagine returning to my former job (which acerbated my stress/anxiety big time).

I've never been in this situation before so I don't know when it is appropriate to use unemployment comp as compared to long term disablity and who makes those decisions.
