I have been on unemployment since Dec. A few weeks ago I had a message to call them re: I missed a review. I called and they asked why I hadn't gotten the letter. I told them I had no idea. 4 days later it is on the table, had been in son's car or over two weeks! So they told me that they would be doing a review sooner this time. So today is it. I am ready. I can't remember when they said they would call, it was within a three hour span. I have applied a million jobs, some I even wouldn't mind doing. Here is the thing, My benefit slip with my last check had a vastly reduced balance remaining. I don't understand. Did I get penalized for missing the review? Anyway, I am very tired, have been up since 3, went to bed at 12:00. I need a nap. I am just nervous about the whole thing.

Thanks Jan and Katheryn, the regular worker called and I had many applications in. She is happy with that. I am only getting 2 more weeks benefits. I guess I will have to get something. It will work out. I have to not stress is all.

Dealing with unemployment can be really stressful. I was on it several years ago after being laid off from a job I loved. I remember there were so many hoops to regularly jump through, plus the stress of looking for another job. It sounds like you've been able to keep up with it til the letter mix-up. I hope things continue to go smoothly for you going forward.

wisewoman,

I hope this works out. I know it is very difficult when time is running out. Do you only get a limited time on benefits? Here in UK there is no time limit although I think the amount people get is much lower than in other countries.

Thanks GG, Jennie and atg. I am surprisingly less anxious then I think I should be. It will work out one way or another. Right now I am tired, long story but I think my daughter has a bit of bird in her. Can't keep her off my roof! She took down the weather vane. arghhhh. She is 18 and knows better. She offered to put it back. I suggested in my sexist way that we let her brother do that. Mainly I need to make sure any holes are caulked. Guess I should go explaoin that to her. And, the damage to shingles when little critters like her scamper about. She is so much a child still.

Thanks for the hugs Lexi. It appears I have screwed up my check book again. And, this will be a gripe and move on session, I just came from having a massage and already my back is at it. I got in the car with my cell phone and I can't find it. It is probably under the seat in daughter's car. I came home to my husbands's very old bird book eaten by his dog. I have been after the kids to check where she is getting out of the fence so I can let her out when I am gone. I suspect they are leaving a gap when they do chores. I think it's an audobohn book, he's had it forever. I need to get him a new one before he comes home Sat.

I have to take my daughter 30 miles to her EMT course which lasts for three hours. With the price of gas.... And I am tired. We have been on the road all day.

My son is ripping out rotted sheet rock in bathroom and he did not get a chance to bag it and clean bathroom before he had to be at work. I have to get a plumber to take out faucets etc around tub so that I may put new sheet rock and tub surround up. Wood behind id almost rotted but caught in time.

It's damp, I am sore. I ran into my old co-worker with whom I was closest at the store and her greeting was quite distant. I quess when I left her job became unbearable and she ended up training my replacement. Figures don't it?

I have to nap so I can do this EMT thing. Baby gets license hopefully tues. It will be her 5th test but I feel like she is finally ready and focused and besides, uncle gave her a pretty decent car.

Okay, I am over it. No more complaining. Lexi, you have a great evening!

(((((((((((((WW))))))))))))))))),

Hope your unemployment works out. It must be different in the different states. When my husband was on unemployment, he only got it for just over 1 month. That barely allows any time for arranging another job.......especially when the job market is as bad for engineers as it was in California when he was unemployed. I remember getting laid off when the air force contract I was working on was cancelled. I had just moved into our new home, my husbands brother was killed in an motorcycle accident, had my knee reconstructed (on crutches & not able to put weight onto that leg for 3 months), had rehab 3 days a week (for about 3 hours) & did the same rehab on my own the other 4 days of the week. When I got laid off, I was so exhausted I really was rather happy to be have a break. Because unemployment requires us to apply for other jobs, I did. I even got a job offer that I had to turn down because I realized that I was actually at the point of being burned out & knew I would be no good with a new job. Loosing a job is rough, but adding burn out to that....makes it even rougher. Sometimes we need more time off than the system wants us to take, but we have to think of ourselves before anything else.

Take care of yourself & when you are ready to go back to work, it will all fall into place for you.

Good luck,
Debbie

Deb, it's funny but I read your thread a minute ago and came here. While I was doing it I never thought anything of experiencing the many things that I did. I had to develop a crust and I did. I always felt that my employer was not good at taking care of employees in that way. We were just expected to deal with EVERYTHING under the sun. In retrospect recently I see the damage that years of this has done to me. I know I never ever desire to do that kind of work again. I want a pretty total change. I could write a book about my old job and my experiences at it. If I were a decent writer it would even be a best seller.

Time for quiet and normal. Yup. Take care.
