Hi all. Seems like I have been through everything with you guys. My downs, my ups and then my downs again. As you may or may not remember, I quit my job after many, many years last May 31. It was one of the hardest things I have ever done. Mostly because I have always been so independant and always have worked and to NOT work was never a question. Well, until late last year when I had my breakdown. But anyway, today I did something that I have been putting off for a while. Mostly because I was afraid. Dont want to find myself in the same situation I found myself in last year, ya know. Anyway, I updated my resume today. It took a long while. Its kinda hard to remember all the things I was doing months ago at a job I havent been at for a while.

I am proud of myself. I am a little afraid as well. I am eager to get back out there, at least part time anyway. I dont want to jump in to quickly.

Do you think I am ready?

I'm so excited for you! What a wonderful feeling- finally, you've got to a point of empowerment and opportunity.
I think that based on what you said you're ready, but like they've already said, only you can decide that. Remember what you've learned the past months about yourself and those around you.

You can do it!

I hate updating resumes, but it can literally make the difference btwn getting a job or not getting the job you want... it's kind of like the 1st 'image' they see of you when looking through applicants. do you have any help w/ the resume? there's some great resources over the internet as well, in terms of layout and that kind of thing...

I don't know all that has happened, but from what I do know it sounds like you've tried to make things better for you, you're aware of your needs and you have made new goals... all you need to do now is just give it a try to see what's out there. then you can still make that final decision weighing all the pros and cons in the end. working PT should help not 'jumping in too quickly', I would also suggest making sure you continue to have a good support system and listening to your instincts... good luck Jen!

I know how scary it is to be doing this..

I will have to do this soon when I have the baby, cause I wont be able to go back to school right away, and I have to do something or I will lose all of my benifits and I wont have insurance so I understand..

Try monster.com it is a wonderful site and free to list your resume on..
I have had on on ther for 4 years..

many hits..too...

Thanks you all. This is a scary step for me. I keep thinking back on how hard it was when I was working. But I think I know myself alot better now. I mean, before, I totally ignored all the warning signs that my body was giving me. I also let them take full advantage of me because I didnt know any better, or, maybe I was just a dumb ***. LOL. Prolly the latter I think I may be ready.

Anyway, part time is not jumping in I suppose. I appreciate all of you behind me in this. It helps me stay strong.

I spent most of this morning searching temp agencies and posting my resume with them. I will definitly try monstor now. I have heard of that before.

Thanks again..............

Love Ya!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm wishing you good luck sweetie! I hope that you will find something that you will like!

I have to go job search too but I keep pushing it away out of my mind. I keep saying to myself that I am still too tired but the landlord will not wait for me. I have finished working dec 23th and I wanted to give myself 2 weeks break. It's kind of scary going out there.

I know that you will do just great and if you are missing it that means you are ready.

Love you! I think I may be ready

Jen,

You can do ANYTHING you put your mind to! Going back part-time after a stretch away from the workforce isn't so bad either. Do what's best for YOU (always ALWAYS take care of Number One).

Much Love!
Jenn

It's good to hear you are at least ready to begin thinking about it! Only you with your T can decide what is possible for you to try right now. IMO if you take baby steps (and yes, we often need the T to guide us in this, as we take bigger steps than we realize!) then it won't be too hard to retreat to safety a step or two as you go. Good wishes!

Sorry I havent posted about the interview. When I got home yesterday I was exhausted and took a much needed nap.

The interview went rather smoothly. I wasnt nervous and I didnt feel like I was under any pressure to "impress". I just went in and let my resume speak for itself. He was impressed with the resume and said that the position I applied for I was over qualified for. I know what that means but not sure if it is a good thing for this position.

It turns out that the guy that interviewed me used to live in VA about 10-15 miles from where I was from. We got to talking about that and we joked about how the cost of living here in TX is far less then up north. We talked about home and I liked it. Made me feel good meeting someone from my part of the world.

Long and short of it, he said he will call me. The pay isnt what I am used to but I know the pay scale is different here then back home, that was to be expected.

Anyway, that is about all I can say. It went well. I thought I think I may be ready
