OK, my hubby gets nose bleeds in the night and it does wake him up. I think maybe once he didnt realize it until morning, so I have to say it is possible.

Back to the cake....Sliver, or healthy piece?

He might not have known I guess. I used to get them when I was a kid, and there were a few times I didnt notice. I just thought it was a runny nose and it didnt bother me. Most adults would probably wipe a runny nose though and realise it was blood.

Maybe he was embarassed. One time I had a guy sleeping on the floor at my house (he was just a friend), and he threw up on the floor right next to where he was sleeping and totally denied throwing up.

Oh wow, I just read this post now, where was the bleeding coming from in the cat, if not too personal to ask?
What was the final DX of poor kitty's bleeding?
Just curious me.
Take care, and keep us updated on kitty's condition.

Sincerely,
DE

I am not glad that your kitty has a problem that needs taken care of with the antibiotics, but I am glad that the problem has been discovered & can be taken care of. You poor kitty. It is so hard when they can't talk to us & tell us what is going on & when we have more than one, it it hard to tell which one is having the problem.

I am so glad that kitty is now of the meds to take care of him. You will have a well kitty & a very happy one now that he will be feeling better.

Glad your scare is over & you are able to take care of him/her. I always take care of my animals before myself.......even though I know that they can't take care of themselves if I am not well, & I have been having that problem lately, but my babies are always going to have my #1 place for care.

Take care of kitty,
love you both,
Debbie

I don't have the words that can even express the love I have for all of my babies. I have learned more about how to care for wounds, illnesses, & anything that can possibly happen to any animal.

As for small animals, I have become an expert at getting a pill down their throat & holding the mouth shut, & stroking the throat until they swallowI have even learned how to give the subqutanieous shots & don't even get a squeel out of them. I have also learned how to do the same with my horses along with the IM shots. I have had the best vets to teach me their tricks.

I have also learned how to identify what certain illnesses are by how the my baby is acting. I am planning on taking some courses to help me with this, but practical, daily experience is the best.

I think that collic with the horses is the hardest. They have to be kept walking & all they want to do is go down on the ground & roll which is the worst thing they can do. The intestines rupruring is what kills them & there are things that can be given to them that can help but if they haven't improved within 15 minutes, the vet needs to be called & hopefully one will be available. We have lost several horses to collic at the ranch & I wasn't there at the time, but I have helped with one horse that was collicing & she did get through it but it was so tough to go through.

I never had even a tiny idea of how complex it was to care for animals but now am fully aware of it & still wouldn't change having my babies for anything.......love is stronger than anything.

Debbie

Eskie - welcome back!

Sleeps - weird that he hadn't been straining. What antibiotics did they give him? I guess if there were no crystals and they gave him antibiotics then it was a bacterial UTI but that's pretty rare. Glad you got him to the vet and that he's on the road to recovery.

If you ever need it, someone posted a link to this organization in my cat forum:
http://www.help-a-pet.org/home.html
"HELP-A-PET is a nonprofit organization which provides financial assistance for the medical care of pets whose owners are unable to afford the expense."

I hope he doesn't have a stone too! I don't know that much about what they do for stones with kitties - I know some about what they can do with dogs but not as sure what they do for kitties. It sounds uncomfortable either way. I just hope the kitty feels better! Thinking of you both.

Hugs,
ErinBear

You could send him to my urologist...or better yet, to Dr. Ted E. Bear!!!! Now there's a good idea. Dr. Ted E. Bear is an excellent practitioner, and the fees are extremely reasonable (one jar of honey, or a hug, whichever is handy)

Hugs,
ErinBear
