Aw I'm sorry. I hope you are able to share the thoughts you want him to hear... and not hold back... it's important to him, and for you.

I hope he rallies. I hope he's ready if his work on this earth is done.

As Sky says he hears the words and the love. Speak with him and let him know you are sad but thanks for being alive for you. Let him know it's okay to go and that you are right there with him. In my experience which is a lot, people are aware on some level of all that is occuring. I wish him peace and he will go at his own pace and speed. We all have things to finish up in our lives. Peace.

you all are so wonderful!! He is still hanging on by whatever thread he has his hands on. I have spent the last few days with him and just got home a few minutes ago. I really don't know how he can go much longer. he has not had his dialysis since last Wednesday. his liver has also completely failed and is very very yellow. last night his daughter and I stayed with him and sang gospel songs to him and he seemed to relax and slip further away. I know he is very very tired. I now am praying that God just takes him quickly. Again thank you all so much.

That is wonderful that you are singing Gospel songs and talking to him, Bebop. When I worked for Hospice we were taught that even if a patient is nonresponsive, hearing is the last sense to go and he can hear and receive the love. I have witnessed this myself with patients who have been in near-coma states and when a loved one spoke to them, the actually smiled.

update.....my uncle passed last night at 11:37. I was not going to go to the hospital tonight but one of his sisters decided she just couldn't stay and be in the room with him. I went at about 9:30. His sister just could not leave him tonight though. I was beside him when he passed. He went really easy and for that I thank God.

My love & prayers are with you during this time. I know how hard & exhausting is was for you. I know how much it took out of me being with my Mother 24/7 while she was in the hospital & mostly with her when I finally was able to get her into the care facility with the hospice care at the end. I am so glad you had all the support you had with you because I can tell you how hard it is to go it completely alone.

I pray that the strength of your family & friends will help you all through this time. There are never the right words to say like "he's in a better place now", "he is no longer in pain", however the reality is that he will be missed by all of you & it hurts to miss any family member or friend that we loose even if we know they are "better off'" now. I pray for your strength to go through the grief process. It is not easy & it is very personal......everyone goes through those feelings at their own time & in their own way. I am still going through those feelings but that is probably because I am still going through the trauma I went through at the same time I was going through the knowledge & the time that my Mother died.

Love & peace to you & your family for now & after the funeral when thoughts & prayers are still needed,

Debbie I totally agree with you. We watched him suffer so much in the last week of his life and when he finally passed it was almost a relief. Yes we already miss him deeply but after seeing him that way I just can't cry. I cried my tears while he was suffering I think. He didn't even look like he had been sick laying there in the casket. That I think made it alot easier on all of us and our faith in God. I really appreciate your kind words. It also helps to know I have the friends here in pc that I have. Thank you so much for being here for me
