I can't seem to get to work on time and it's embarassing. I dont' have a boss, as I am currently the Director, so there isn't a real reason for me to be in on time.

We had a delay (school system) today and instead of going in 2 hours late at 9:30am, I didn't get in until closer to 11am. I simply don't know how to stop taking advantage of the system.

I validate it becuase I do work weekends and nights and things, so it all usually works out in the wash. I am also getting all the stuff doen that I need to get done.

However, I do know that it's unprofessional and not acceptable. What will it take for me to get on track? I simply don't know how to change this.

Think deeply about how much it would mean to you, if you were on time, and the ramifications of not being on time. Once you have your ideas set that you do, definately, want to change your timing..

..Only you know the trick that it would take, based on you....a lovely meal at breakfastime to set the mood for arriving in the morning? A morning prayer? Time with a friend in the morning? Schedule something you love first, so making it to work comes easy once you are in the right frame of mind...

You know you......what could you change to make yourself on time?

If its the waking up part train yourself to get up earlier by setting your alarm for maybe 5 minutes earlier every week. Never hit the snooze button get up as soon as it goes off and i mean pop out of bed jump up. If you find yourself wanting to fall back in yell at yourself and tell yourself no get in the shower right then and there. Turn on some music or something.

I used to have this problem I just keep changing my routine to keep myself on my toes

THose are some really, really good suggestions. Idk, at this point I'm ready to put my alarm clock out in the living room so I get up to shut it off! I just jump right back in bed. I used to think it was my depression, but now I don't think so. I think it's just the person I am becoming.

So today I came in at 11:00am, should I work later than normal to make up for it? I am tempted to leave at 4:30pm, but maybe I should work until 5:30/6pm instead? I just feel bad. I don't WANT to work that late. Is this stupid, or what?

You need to retrain your brain. It could be the depression. I have a hard time moving even on the weekends. Your lucky if I move at all on saturdays. You just need to keep telling yourself that you have a really good reason to move your booty in the morning. Could put the alarm clock in the bathroom then right after you turn it off you hop right in the shower

1. Are you having trouble getting to sleep or waking up? I would recommend getting that problem out of the way first.

2. If you're like me, I like the quiet that came with working the odd hours. I hated having to make that awful chit-chat every morning! Coming in at 11 evaded that problem. Then everybody leaves for lunch, and the office is quiet! So maybe there's a method to your madness. The problem is, you don't need to get fired and/or to be setting this kind of example. Coming in 30-60 minutes BEFORE everyone else gives you that quiet time and starts off the day right, if you can get your body clock and sleep schedule used to it. Good luck.

I was having trouble just getting up. I have no problem sleeping, lol. I sleep more than anyone I know. I can also fall asleep just about anywhere.

I have to say, last night I made my lunch, ironed my clothes and got everything ready for this morning - so I would have no excuse to be late. I even set my alarm for extra early (6am so I could drop my car off at the dealer to get fixed before work). And, I was in work for 7:40am today!!! 20 minutes early! Go me

if you have good insurance, you might want to get tested for sleep apnea? I will be getting my machine next week or so. but i'll tell ya, I had SO MUCH ENERGY even after the first night in the sleep clinic on a test machine. even just walking out of the hospital the next morning, I was like, I am walking so fast, who is this new person?!?! And yes, TOTALLY go you!!! I read some statistic, it takes like ten times longer to do a chore, like make lunch, in the morning than it does at night! okay maybe not ten times, I forget the number, but it was significant. plus getting in early, you see who has been lying about how early THEY come in! liar liar pants on fire!

sleep apnea, never thought of that! I'm still young (lower 30s) and not overweight - does that matter? My dad and mom both have it, and my dad sleeps with a machine.

I think I might just need a lot of sleep!

I think it's more a head structural issue, which would be inherited. You're sleepy! You're oxygen-deprived! You're not thinking straight! I am claiming this for my excuse! Really, that first night, I felt clear-headed behind my eyes in the morning, I could breathe with my mouth CLOSED for two days after! THIS is why I only swim on my back! The sleep dr and my pdoc said it even helps depression - I felt pretty buzzed. I chose the full face mask option, which looks kinda science-fictiony - I told the nurse it would work for when we play Cowboys and Aliens in bed - she said, oh, how often do you play that? I go, it'll be all the time, now!

Hankster you make me laugh! lol! cowboys and aliens lol!!! I think going in late is setting a bad example for the other employees, I don't know if it really makes a difference though as long as you are getting your work done. Some people are morning people and some function better in the afternoons. I guess it just depends. But if you feel you are taking advantage I would stop it, as you probably are and you don't want to lose your job. They are to hard to find. Maybe you need a change to get you more motivated. I wish you well, gma45
