Hi Everyone Feeling very sad today

I am at the height of my PMS and feeling very sad. I know that I have to limit my coffee intake because it increases my anxiety levels to a max...were I get paranoid. It is a very dibilitating feeling that is overwhelming me right now.

How do you calm yourself down when you are "clawing the ceiling" with unrealistic anxiety and irrational thinking?

I dunno. When you find out, let me know!!!

Try journaling, doing something to occupy your mind, and talk to someone you trust.

Hi,

When I am anxious and down, I try to do some healthy things to deal with it, like talk to a friend on the phone if I can, or write about it in my journal. I go for a walk if possible - this sometimes helps. I also just try to distract myself until things get better, even if that's a few days or however long that takes....I do puzzles....I do crafts....I listen to music I enjoy, and watch television shows I like....I clean in my apartment....I do the laundry....I just try to keep myself busy and take care of myself as best as possible until things get better later. It may not be the best coping mechanism, but sometimes it's helpful for me just to get through the hard parts safely :-)

I hope things get better soon - take gentle care of yourself, and hang in there!

Take care,
ErinBear

I like to read or find something interesting on TV. Another thing that helps me, since I like to shop, is, I add to my book wishlists. I look at Amazon.com or publishers' sites.

((((((((((((((( Dubz )))))))))))))

When feeling really sad- Do something special just for you, that you enjoy. Remind yourself that you are special, and that this feeling will pass.

For anxiety- Distractions, things to take your mind off the worries ie. computor games, playing cards, listening to music.....

Anxiety is distressing, try to make it easier to bare by not focusing on it.

Therapy helps too.

Take care.

Hi ((( Dubz )))

Anxiety and stress are closely related.

Anxiety - In it's basic form is FEAR. Coming from the body/mind flight or fight mechanism. An analogy would be a baby rabbit in a field, sees a fox. It's got to run or fight. The body prepares for this- sweaty hands, feel sick, need to go!

Continued FEAR or anxiety leads to stress affecting mind/body. For example, the baby rabbit gets caught by the fox. Was unable to run or fight......but did survive. Everytime she sees a fox now, she gets the same stress reaction.

In my opinion stress features in most mental health problems.ie distress

Hope this helps. Feeling very sad today

What would you like to happen in your life?

Sometimes it's helpful to think about what you would like and how you might get there. Feeling very sad today

Try not to focus on the negative.

(((((((Dubz))))))))))),

I am going through similar situations myself.....only my PMS now isn't at any set time.....& some months, I even skip it.....(Started missing the periods when I lost so much weight last year...then it came back on & off......but I am old enough that I shouldn't even be dealing with this anymore).

For me....when anxiety takes over to a point I can't handle it, I do try to do something I can enjoy. Unfortunately, when I am that bad off, I can't even concentrate on fun things. At that point, I end up taking my med that I use to sleep at night without nightmares. That knocks me out for about 8 hours. When I wake up, it takes me quite a while to remember what is was that bothered me to that extent.....& by then, I am relaxed enough that I can place my feelings into perspective.

I have had to experiment for quite awhile to figure out how to handle my sad/anxious feelings & sometimes my method doesn't really work that well either, but this has been the best solution I have come up with so far. I do wish I could take care of myself without depending on meds, but right now, I just do what it take to get by. Hopefully when my life settles down, I will be able to become less dependent on meds.

Hope you can find something that works for you.
Debbie
