My contacts are giving me grief ... last time I saw the optometrist I was told I needed to wear glasses at least some of the time and possibly almost all the time (and haven't).

Bah I guess I need an appointment and may have to throw away my contacts Who here wears glasses?

It could be that you can wear the glasses part of the time and the contacts part of the time. You might just need some eye drops. Glasses aren't all that bad. Who here wears glasses?

Hugs,

Jan

Yes I hope so Jan ... I've worn contacts for so many years, I guess it will be weird to wear glasses again (only used to have them for driving).

And I hate exams Who here wears glasses?

I should wear glasses but I have this really bad habit of 'putting them down somewhere out of the way' which invariably means I end up standing on them. Sigh. I need to get some more at some point.

On the upside glasses typically make people look smarter :-)

sounds like maybe you do too :>

i am prepared to be told to give the contacts a break for a while after what optometrist said last time ... but will be strange to have to wear glasses all the time ... grrrr at having sucky vision Who here wears glasses?

although i am a bit sick of having to take lenses in and out so perhaps it will be a good thing. i'm not allowed the contacts that stay in for a month Who here wears glasses?

tomorrow i am going to shop for frames in preparation ...

I used to be very short sighted and wore ("bullet-proof") glasses, saving my disposable contacts for outings or special events. I always battled with my contacts though - my eyes are quite sensitive.

I was then fortunate enough to undergo lasic surgery which truly changed my life. My eyes have deteriorated a bit since the surgery but I am unable to have it again so I settle for my much lighter glasses now.

I've got both, but I'm usually feeling pretty lazy in the morning so I go with the glasses.

I hate wearing glasses! I am completely and totally addicted to my contacts (couldn't see jack without them!)

My issue is having something on my face...not the fact that I hate glasses just because I look a bit dorky. I can't stand having anything on my face at all...I get too hot and I can't stand anything being near my face at all.

I can't stand to see anyone put in contacts. Just the tought of getting my finger close to my eye to put a contact in wigs me out. I've always worn glasses. I've thought about contacts before. But I could never put them in. I can't stand going for an eye exam. I got new glasses about a year and a half ago. Before that it had been 10 years. I had to break down and just go because my glasses were falling apart.

My opthamologist told me that some people develop a contact sensitivity. He wore his contacts all through med school but can't wear them now. I can tolerate them for short periods of time. I have glasses and prescription sunglasses and I am thrilled with them.

I'd really like this but ONE thing that puts me off is that a friend who went for a consultation was told that your vision can change quite a bit after you have babies, and she was advised to wait until after she'd had at least one (because you can usually only have the laser once??)

I'm not sure if this is true for everyone, and I should really check it properly for myself Who here wears glasses?

Sounds like it was great for you S :!!

I have heard that too. I don't want to not be able to wear contacts at ALL so I guess If I have to wear glasses most of the time I will ...

I am looking at 'find flattering frames' info. Has anyone got any really fantastic ones?

I wear both but I wear my glasses 99% of the time. I prefer my glasses for work but when I am going out, I favor my contacts.

I read a lot of magazines and if you can afford them the big names you know, designer are very in and glamorous. I know one I saw starts with a F and the frames were very nice. You will look smart too Who here wears glasses?

I like my glasses. I've never tried contacts, and I dont have any interest in doing so. My specs make me look older and more sophisticated. I like this, because I look much younger than I actually am, so they help counter this.

Yeah I need to find some glasses that I like...

The trouble that I have is that the frames that I like don't suit my face particularly, and the frames that suit my face, I don't like particularly. Haven't managed to find a middle ground... Also, I quite like some of the bolder styles but because I don't have contacts I'm a little wary of getting some that I might get sick of in a hurry. On with the search...

I used to have to get my contacts special ordered so they were thinner because they'd irritate my eyes so bad. But now I wear Acuvue 2 and they seem to be thin enough that they don't hurt my eyes.

I don't think I could ever go back to glasses again!
