Hi everyone,
I'm new here - been browsing for a bit but finally plucked up the courage to admit I need help and register. I'm not really sure which board to use.

I might as well get straight to the point and tell you that I am trying to deal with a problem that I know I need to stop but I just can't. I haven't told anybody about my problem because I am scared about what the future will hold and mean.

I am a compulsive liar and attention seeker. My beahviour frightens me. I'm not even sure you will want someone like me in here on this forum. Just say so if you don't and I'll leave. I just feel so alone.

You are very welcome here!!

It certainly takes a lot of courage to admit to problems such as you are experiencing.

Nobody here will want you to leave .... I am sorry you are feeling so alone though ... please feel free to post as you feel comfortable to do so!

Hi gilly121, of course you shouldn't leave, and of course there is room for you here. It does take courage to admit one has a problem and you took that first step. Feel free to venture out across the forums...

Welcome Gilly. No your fine hun, it's good that you admitted this and that your ready to seek some advice. I think that's worthy and shows strength. Your definitely welcomed here. We'd love to be able to help with ever we can, but I also do recommend seeking professional help on top of us if this problem is real bad and is effecting your life.

We're so glad your here.....welcome welcome.

hey. i think that people do need attention. we are social animals and so on and so forth. needing attention is human. there would be more wrong with you if you didn't need any attention at all.

that being said there are inappropriate and appropriate ways of obtaining attention. therapists can be helpful there (some of them)

do you know what is up with the lying thing? do you have any idea why you do it? do you tend to get caught in them?

i'm wondering whether it is lying that is the problem... or if it is more that you make up stuff in terms of your likes / dislikes / motivations / favourite colours etc etc that kind of thing because... you don't really know who you are.

but maybe i'm missing the point. dunno...

attentionThis is an old thread. You probably should not post your reply to it, as the original poster is unlikely to see it.
