I guess to me, if I can say I enjoy something, during that activity, I could say I was 'ok" even though beneath the joy would still be unresolved problems to work out. The distraction could let me enjoy life beside the worry and pain somewhat. Maybe you need more of that?

Shlump, I know what you mean. I think thats a different interpretation of 'ok'. In those cases its possible the person is deluding themselves that they like something. They arent perceiving the whole picture of the consequences of unhealthy activity when they describe the entire experience as 'likeable'. Just my thought.

Answer away, well I can't help you with that. If you hurt no one then have at it. Guilt is something I am not sure I ever felt. If I know I shouldn't do something I won't do it.

Enjoying something doesn't neccessarily mean life is ok. In this case an hour of a day maybe a few days a week is not enough.

Do you use visualization when you read? Like imagining the place the story is talking about, peoples faces, city streets, the weather?

I don't think someone could read a book without imagining the places described. At least not enjoy the book without imagining. I do my best imagining the places in the books I read, They are all fictional. I also don't have that creative of a mind.

Creating images in the mind is creative isnt it? How much detail is in the pictures in your mind when you read? My point of asking is that, if you are able to imagine a fictional scenario, thats kind of the groundwork for some kind of guided imagery meditation therapy. Since you like sci fi, there could be some role playing in it and it might be more fun. You could imagine yourself talking to people. When you can see yourself doing it before you do it, that sometimes makes it easier.

Not very detailed, as I said I don't have much in the way of an imagination.

Hi artist. I'm just new here, I joined this evening.

May I suggest that you change the typeface of your posts back to the normal one, the same one everyone else uses? It'll make what you writes a lot easier to read. Thank you.

Okay, now I have another question.

What art supplies do you have? I mean things like sketch pads, canvas paper, tubes of paint, brushes, pencils for drawing, pastels, that sort of thing.

What've you got?

Sorry you can not read what I type but I believe in individuality. This is the best you will get from me.

I really don't have any art supplies. Since I moved awhile back I never really replaced anything I lost or got thrown out. Besides I had a little of a lot of different supplies. Airbrush paint and equipment (which I actually have the brush and compressor), miniature paints, landscape (terrain) building supplies to make things like wooded areas, rivers, lakes that kind of thing.

Painting is one of my hobbies. Eyes, fungi, biology and astronomy are prominent themes in my work. What do you like to paint?

I don't paint I really don't do anything with art any more. It is not worth the frustration. I really do not have a mind that can do creative things. I am lucky I remember to put on clothes before leaving for work, or to breathe (although that would be a good thing).
Thanks for this!

No idea, I tried to see a therapist and all but I never really got a diagnoses. I know depression (from low testosterone) although some people tell me I was like that before. I think I have anxiety I can hardly get out of my apartment to go to work let alone anything else. Who knows if I have anything else going on.

I have, or did have pencils wherever they are, I would have to look and see. What else I have.
Yes?

Yeah me an artistic stuff do not get along. I know I have tried. I'm about as artistic as the Vogons in the book/movie the hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy.

I just stop everything, no matter where I am, and let go of all focus; waiting until I'm relaxed--or as I call it, numb. Then I'll rethink the situation or thought--whatever the problem may be, and erase the illogical aspects and think of it in a different way with an open mind so it feels neutral. I'm not entirely sane because of my lack of expressing and/or feeling emotions, but anythings better than feeling angry. Whenever I begin to feel angry, it's as if I completely lose myself in the stress of the situation, and convince myself that it's worse; providing "proof" of exaggerated thoughts.

Though, I have one question:

When did you start feeling this way, or... has it always been this way--how you feel?

I think it has always been this way for me. At least as long as I can remember which is not that far back. Me and life have a love/hate relationship, we love to hate each other.

I know how you feel. i get that way too. it is hard sometimes to focus on anything when you are overwhelmed and depressed. For me, sometimes just taking 3 deep breaths will help me focus until i can call a help line or get in touch with somebody on the phone- most times i can figure it out on my own from there

Sorry if I'm repeating anything anyone said but its 12:45am in UK and I'm tired haha but saw your post and wanted to reply and say writing down is good but as you said you can't really be bothered so maybe typing on word doc or even recording self on phone? Just so you're heard, even if you delete straight afterwards so no chance anyone else hears (if that's not what you want) I used to not be
Much of a talker as felt I was just in the way but started to find people I trusted and it helps to talk
I'm off to dream now x

Iv always wished i had someone to talk to as well.. its not that i dont know what to say, but that theres no one i have that would listen to my feelings without judging me. No one who would keep my thoughts a secret.. Writing my feelings down in a journal definatly feels good. im not saying it makes me feel better but especially if you dont know what to say. Just write it all down. Theres no pressure of talking to someone, just take your time. Or scribble all your thoughts down fast. When i write it feels like i AM talking to someone if that makes any sense. I write as if someone is reading word for word that i am unaware of.
