I have missed my supportive friends from PC while being gone to the hospital in KC. I spent all last week there and finally got to come back to my house on sunday evening.
I went in for an outpatient surgery that should have let me get out after spending 3 or 4 hrs in recovery. Instead I had a "heart attack" (little dramatic wording for me but..) in the recovery room and spent 9 hours in there before they felt I was stable enough to be moved into a cardiac care bed in the heart hospital and the next days tests showed a blockage in an artery and on thursday they did a heart cath and angioplasty. I know it happens to people all the time and at least I was in the hospital when it happened this time because I would have probably continued to ignore the symptoms like I had been........ok that is the canned version of everything they kept telling me. My thoughts and feelings were much darker, laying there in a hospital bed at times really preferring to just die than have them continue to monitor me and make me get better. Don't they understand I was there totally alone, no one came to see me at anytime during that week. Not my kids, my parents, siblings, "friends" but I guess it really is no big deal.....what difference at this point does it make.
Sorry for whining and complaining.
Home from the hospital...can't take much more.

It makes every bit of difference when you are recouperating from surgery and then on top of that, a heart attack!!! You need to know you matter to SOMEONE, for pity's sake!! Where was your family? Did they at least keep in touch over the phone?

My husband had a small heart attach about 6-7 weeks ago. He had the angioplasty and two stents put in. It's the psychological damage that's been so hard for him to cope with! In the cariac unit or your heart doctor, have they suggested you go to a heart rehab program? You really need to find one in your area. The most important part of it, for my husband, at least, is the counciling part of it. There's a natural depression that sets in after a heart attack. You need help with that!

Keep talking to us, Hon. If no one else is there for you, we sure are!!!

PLEASE take care of you!! Home from the hospital...can't take much more.

It is a big deal when no one visits you!!! I can't imagine the feelings of abandonment that you must be struggling through... it's horrible! And for the heart thing, it's fine when it happens to someone else, but when it happens to you, you are suddenly forced to face your own mortality. I do hope you have a speedy recovery... and always remember to ask for antibiotics if you have any dental work done, it can infect the stents.

Missed you too...

I got on here and read these words of love and support from you guys and it made me cry. I knew this is the one place I have in my life that my friends understand me and would care that I was hurting, lonely and in the really deep depths of hopelessness. Your messages came to me when I was ready to give up last night because I felt so alone. Since I've been home the one person who has called has been my exhusband and it was to tell me that I couldn't even get dying right. I've called my kids, my few friends who meant to call and check on me but just got to busy and forgot but are glad I'm back home. (it would be easier to believe that if they had dropped by or called back, I'm not calling them again...eventually they will want me to do something for them and they will remember I'm still alive (?) maybe)
anyway, i'm going on and on again and what I really want to say is THANK YOU and BLESS YOU.....each one of you holds a very special place in my heart.

mssumon, how horrible to be there alone. I spent a week in the hospital 3 years ago and know how lonely that can make one. I'm glad you're getting better though and back here at PC.

Thank you.......I agree hospitals are NO fun and it seems like the last year has been filled with nothing but doctors and hospitals but......my prayers remain with the ones who are so much worse off than I am.
